Has anyone ever used Uber around the Disneyland resort or to destinations to Universal Studios? I am just wondering if it's worth it.

Yes and Yes.

They are all around both areas and the best balance of efficiency and cost effectiveness IMO.

That's good to know. I have never used Uber before and I am trying to figure out options for my upcoming trip to and from several destinations. I am kind of unsure about Universal Studios though. I know that tours will pick you up from your hotel and drop you off, but I can't imagine an Uber driver staying around all day waiting for you. Id have to call for a different driver back to Anaheim I would think and I don't even know if the cost of getting an Uber there would be worth it.

We used Uber to get between our hotel and the parks. We stayed down the street at the Homewood Suites and found it very easy to catch an Uber in the mornings rather than walking or using the Toy Story shuttle. I don't think I would use Uber to get all the way to Universal. The cost would probably be pretty high. You might look into scheduling a Super Shuttle or another shuttle company to get there.

You would definitely need to just put in a request for Uber on the way home and not expect a driver to wait for you. I know that DL area to Universal can be a traffic nightmare and my understanding is that Uber prices based on both time and demand, so it could be an expensive trip. I did see one tour line that was promising they'd get you to Universal before opening, but as someone suggested SuperShuttle might be a decent option.

Definitely remember to get an Uber coupon since you’d be a first time rider! That can be anywhere from $10 to $30 off your first ride. If you are traveling with someone else who is first time do have them grab the Uber with a coupon on the way back. Lyft also offers first time rider discounts so check them both out to find the best!

We haven’t used Uber but we used Lyft from DL hotel to Universal with no issues. We have also used it from DL to other hotels and the airport. It has been cheaper for us to use Lyft rather than rent a car and then pay for parking. We also then don’t have to worry about navigating the traffic.

On our last trip we used Uber to get to/from Universal Studios from the Desert Inn on Harbor. It cost about $40 on the way there and $50 on the way back (surcharge due to it being 10 pm).

There was 4 of us so it was cheaper than the shuttles that charged $30 pp and meant we got to leave and comeback on our own schedule.

When I added the costs for a one day car rental, parking fee at the hotel, parking fee at the park and cost of filling up the gas tank it was about even and this way I didn’t have to deal with driving in LA traffic.

it was $9 more than the Uber xl we would have needed. I think $43. Not including tip. The convenience was worth $9!

The shuttle thing was $52 plus tip.

UberX from Motel6 Maingate to the Esplanade is around $5.50 each way (plus tip). Cheaper than $20 per day parking!

I'm not sure about Universal. I've seen some pretty high surges in pricing so I expect it just depends on the day/time/what's going on in the area.
