Uber/Lyft vs. cabs

I live in an area with no need to ever use Uber/Lyft. That being said, it seems as if that is the only option at Disney World now (well, at least seemingly, according to these boards). So, do people still take cabs at Disney? Last trip, 2 years ago, when we grabbed a cab from BWI to Disney Springs, Bell Services raised a hand, 10 seconds later a cab was there and it was about $12 - easy. Do we now need to start taking Uber/Lyft, or can we just go with the old standby? Thanks.

Many times you will find the Mears cab/vans standing by. Ask any of the bell services or the attendantns standing outside in the parking area. We saw them at POFQ and Beach Club. You can also go to the Mears Taxi service site. That said using Uber/Lyft is easy, but I know some don't want to use it.

Yes, you can still take a cab. Most people prefer Lyft or Uber because they're easier, cheaper, and (at least in Orlando) cleaner

Count us among those who have switched to Uber/Lyft when we don’t rent a car. I was frequently frustrated watching the taxi meter roll up “waiting time” charges as we sat in a traffic jam trying to enter the queue into BWV to get dropped off. One time, we sat on Epcot Resorts Blvd. waiting to turn left into the drive for about $5 extra charges on the meter when we could have walked from there to the resort entrance in 5 minutes. At least with ride share, there’s not that annoying taxi meter clicking over. Ride share vehicles have been prompt, clean, and reasonably priced while at WDW. We’re usually using them between resorts when dining.
