Uber/Lyft or Tony Hinds?

We are planning a trip to Portofino Bay for 3 nights folllwed by 5 nights at the Polynesian resort in mid-January and are wondering what would be the best transportation choice to get from MCO to Portofino Bay, and then to the Polynesian resort 3 days later.

We are a family of 5–2 adults and 3 boys, age 9. We are not familiar at all with Uber or Lyft and have never used either. What are the pros and cons of either option? Which would cost less? Is it true that Tony Hinds will pick up our bags? Will both drop us off at the hotel?

Yes he will get your bags from the carousel if you request it
He will use a cart to move the luggage to his vehicle

One flat fee for round trip or numerous trips for hotel switching rides

Free stop for groceries or any store that is wanted

I prefer to have my pick up times planned in advance

Money is not a consideration for me


There are many fans for Uber and Lyft
It’s cheaper than private car service
No pre set up needed
Use their app and set up a ride when you need transportation


All three companies are a fine choice
Can’t go wrong with any of them

We also don't use Uber/Lyft, but we did use Tony in February. Pick up at Pop Century to Cabana Bay, then Cabana Bay to MCO. 4 Adults and 1 child (9). Tons of bags. $100 flat for everything. And the peace of mind knowing we can all travel together in the same car was nice too (instead of three separate cars).

From the airport to your hotel, according to the app, a lyft XL will be $35.

With 5 people, you'd need to book Uber or Lyft XL which would be about the same cost or slightly cheaper than what Tony (or a similar service) would charge. Any price difference would be negligible. They both will drop you off at your hotel, and Tony will handle your bags for you.

The benefit of Uber/Lyft is that they are available on demand, so whenever you're ready to leave, you can just order one. With Tony or a comparable car service, you typically have to schedule them for a certain time.

If you decide to go with Tony, we've had great experiences with him and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

We've used Tony a few times, and have always had a solid experience. I would recommend Tony Hinds service. It's probably more expensive, but it gives me piece of mind.

We use a different car service, but have used this car service for the last 6 years.

I like using a car service vs Uber/Lyft for airport and resort to resort transportation as; it's great to have help with the luggage, able to stop at a grocery store for free, driver always there when our plane lands and if the plane is delayed, they keep track of that.

I would use Tony for MCO to Portofino. It will cost you about $15 more than Uber or Lyft but you won’t have to stress when you get off the plane and are trying to gather your bags, etc. Tony will be waiting for you and able to help gather your bags and you won’t have to go searching for the pick up spot.
From Portofino to Poly I would Uber or Lyft. You can stand right outside the lobby whenever you are ready and order the Uber or Lyft. I bet the valet or concierge guys would even help you out with the app. With the five of you and luggage, make sure you order the XL or everything won’t fit!
