If you are anal like me, you can estimate all the different places you will get an uber online and add up the costs (non surge pricing, but still gives you a good idea). On my next trip, just four nights, three days: I priced out uber/cab from the airport to hotel (eating there), uber to and from SeaWorld (eating at parks and hotel that day), uber to I drive Titanic, uber to Disney Springs, uber back to hotel for a swim, uber to Pointe Orlando and back to hotel (taking out of town relatives to dinner), uber to the Magic Kingdom and back (eating meals at park), and uber back to the airport. All that when I include tips with non surge pricing will run me around $210. For me a car rental, parking fees (just SeaWorld and the MK), and gas if I look for get a deal would probably be cheaper than that from a mainstream car rental company. I looked at Expedia and it said $224 a week for a midsize car which is higher, but I know I could do better if I keep looking.
The price differential, though, is not huge, so this time I am going to uber it rather than do the rental, just because for once I don't feel like driving. I usually rent a car. If staying at a condo and doing grocery runs, and maybe a day trip to Clearwater Beach or Kennedy Space center, a car wins big time.
Buses are available and cheaper, but for my very short trips to Orlando convenience is key to me, so I do a car rental or uber/lyft for the quickness and efficiency to maximize my minimal time.
