I used it in Orlando but ran into three problems:
(1) I had a promo code for $20 off the first trip. Unfortunately, after the fact I learned that since is is CAD $ it can only apply to trips in Canada. Trips in the US need a US$ promo code. As a result of this I ended up having to pay for our Orlando Uber trip, which I had expected would be nearly free. I complained and they gave me a US$10 credit, which can only be used in the US; for us the next trip I anticipating where I MIGHT have a use for it is in about two years...
(2) I registered my canadian cell number with the app. But when in the USA I use a Roam Mobility SIM card with a US number. As a result the app would not let me call or text message our driver because I was using a different number than that registered with the app. Very frustrating. There is an option within the app to change and verify a new cell #. If you travel as I do with a US # for when you are in the US, make sure you change it in the app well before you need to use Uber ! And then change it back when you get home.
(3) our Uber driver got lost. He only half paid attention to our request and what I verbally told him when we got in the (very nice, clean) SUV. He got the "Animal Kingdom" part but ignored the "Lodge" part. Even though I verbally said we were going to a BOMA ADR AT AKL... He did not know how to get from the AK gate area to AKL; I had to help direct by reading and pointing out the strret signs directing one... Fortunately after the second AK entrance loop he stopped the "meter" running, so we weren't significantly overcharged.
Would I use Uber again ? Yes, I will give them another chance.
