Typical Price for Flight? (New England)

Trying to book a flight from either Boston (Logan) or Providence, RI (TF Green) to MCO for 12/9-12/15. Trying to predict airfare 9 months in advance is silly and futile. Does anyone know what a "typical" coach seat sells for such a trip.

I figure with all the DIS'ers, there's bound to be a bunch who fly out of New England and can fill me in on what to look for.

If I can book a flight now at the "typical" rate, then I'll do it and forget about it, rather than spend countless days waiting for Southwest/Jetblue to post prices for then and finding that I can't book the times I want.

Thanks!

Its hard to say...i try to book airfare out of Bradley and this past December got Southwest down to about 170.00 r/t with the Ding rates. I booked right when there dates opened up and kept getting credited when the fare dropped. In February i paid almost 360.00 a person but that was during president's week. Dont know if this helps you!

Expect to pay anywhere from $190 - 250 per person. Right now airfares are a bit high so the lower end might be hard to find. But you shouldn't have to go all the way to the upper end if you are flexible.

I agree with this.

If I can find a price I can live with, I'll book it and be done.

I'm playing the game now for February school vacation. I got the flight to FL for $99 one way. The flights home are currently $269 for the one way. If we HAVE to pay that, we will, but I'm going to wait and see if anything moves to a lower price

I usually fly out of boston, Was with Song and Delta for nonstops. I paid 99 RT once in 2004, but then in 05 and 06 130 three times. Dec and Nov and Aug trips.

This time I went with SW out of Prov. Got 59.00 NS each way   but just 10 mins ago got a ding and it was for my eact flight, so I saved another 34.00! SO I was paying 275 for 2 people NS, RT and now its 240 total !! that is half of what I was paying!!

Read the SW and Ding threads, its worth it!! and you have plenty of time to watch it all.

Last year in December I was able to get flights on Jetblue out of Logan at $119 each way. The great thing about Jetblue is, if the fares go down, you can get the difference credited to you for your next flight. One of the flights dropped to $69, and I was able to get the credit before the fare rose again to $149.

I have no idea what flights cost this year.

We usually fly Southwest out of MHT or JetBlue out of Logan and I've never paid more than $150 r/t.

We can fly out of either BDL, PVD or Boston. We usually go over President's Week, and have never paid more than $200 rt for non stop flights for that time. I would imagine you would be able to get flights around that price...if not lower for that time-frame since it is not a holiday or heavily traveled week.

Good luck to you.

I used the OP's dates at http://www.sidestep.com for a R/T PVD/MCO flight. (I love PVD and you can't pay me to fly through Logan!)

There were 249 hits for these dates, however most of the flight times stink. While gleeming the output, the best times I see are:

12/9 Depart PVD 8:00am ET, Arrive MCO 12:47pm ET (1 stop)
12/15 Depart MCO 11:41 am ET, Arrive PVD 4:05pm ET (1 stop)

Both legs stop over at IAD.

Price: $255.00 per person on United.

Maybe try flying out on Friday night?

(Edit: Just tried the same airport combination with a Saturday night departure from PVD. With the same return time on 12/15, a 7:00pm depature on the 8th reduces the cost to $220.00 per person, R/T on United. (1 stop each direction)

WOW! Do you fly weekend to weekend, or adjust your days a bit. And did your Pres week begin or end with Presidents day?

Out of BDL, the BEST we've done Pres week is about $230 RT - and that was Mon to the following Wed. (missing a couple extra days of school.) We've flown at this time for the last 5 years (Beginning the weekend OF Presidents day, and ending the weekend after, and have never been able to touch $200 RT without missing additional days of school.

To the OP, if you can be little flexible with your days and times, I agree, that you should be able to find flights for $200 or less. Also, consider MHT.

agree with posters... $180-$250 per person.

Be careful if you are looking into Delta. They usually have their schedules posted ahead of JetBlue & SouthWest, but they also have a BUNCH of changes. ALot of times the flights can change by hours or change from a nonstop to one stop.

We use JetBlue... gotta love tv's:banana:

I agree with you, that PVD is MUCH more pleasant than Logan to get to, park at, and navigate. However, I've always gotten much cheaper flights from Logan, and can't ever get a nonstop from PVD. I think the stress of Logan is balanced out by the lack of stress on nonstop flights.

Ive tried Logan - too difficult for the driver to drop off/pickup - dont want to take Knights Limo again
Providence doesnt go direct
Yup I'll pay the extra money and go through Hartford

I've flown many many times from PVD to MCO or Tampa and have never in my life paid more than $200 for a r/t ticket (including taxes and fees).

i fly non-stop out of PVD and have paid anywhere between 120 and 250 roundtrip.
