I never thought I would ever say this about anything having to do with Six Flags, but the kiddie area at HH (NJ) ROCKS!! It kicks TL butt here and back. I think my kids are gonna be disappointed with the kid section in August!!

I will say that you can't compare the two wave pools. TL's is awesome.

HH also had what they called "Play Money". You would pay cash or credit card, and get a waterproof wristband with whatever amount of money you put on it. You have no need to carry cash or credit with you, you can lock it up. You use your wristband for food, drink, snack or souvies. At the end of the day you bring back your wristband, and you will get the money that is left back. It was awesome!!!

I must say, this subject is completely pointless. Thanks for letting us know though. If I'm ever passing though New Jersey (I live in Oklahoma), I'll be sure to stop by Hurricane Harbor so I can pay for my lousy, overpriced hamburger with my wristband.

And I think the Play Money is a great idea, and it would be a good one for WDW to use. I hate having to carry my room card or credit card or cash around at TL! It is a pain. There are also HH in states other than NJ. I didn't think sharing knowledge was a bad thing.

DO they teach manners in OK? I may be from the North East, but I was taught that if you don't have something nice to not to say anything at all! But hey, I was raised in NY, so what do I know??

Hey JoiseyMom! THANX for posting! Useful info for me since I was wondering how TL compares to HH. We have HH right here in STL also and usually get season passes, so I just wasn't sure that I wanted to spend the time/money at TL when we go to WDW. But DGD11 insists that it's worth it because of the wave pool. Sounds like you agree, so I guess I'll give in on this one!
I also think you made a great point about the "play money." Wish Disney would create a waterproof wristband or something similar. Most of us don't want to try to carry money, room keys, etc. in the water parks. (Actually, you'd think they'd be right on this one as it's another way of making it easier for us to part with our money!)

How old are your kids? I am been holding off on doing the Great Adventure thing with my kids since they are still young. I take them to Sesame Place which is pretty close to Great adventure.

Sorry, I have to Disagree with you about HH. I am a SF season passholder as well as a WDW AP holder. And I have to say TL is in a totally different league. Don't get me wrong HH is fun but...it is Ghetto. Every time I go, it's filthy. And I've never encountered so many foul mouth people (kids and adults). Twice, I've had my flip flops stolen(and they were old used flip flops ) Seriously, how are you going to steal old dirty flip flops, it's so gross. We go because we are Thrill Ride Junkies. We go, knowing what to expect, but I'm always shocked by the behavior displayed and the state of the parks.

SF/HH is what is but IMHO no way comparable to TL or any other part of Disney.

No, we have only been to TL, well I have been to River Country but that was in a past life .

How old are your kids? I am been holding off on doing the Great Adventure thing with my kids since they are still young. I take them to Sesame Place which is pretty close to Great adventure.

My dd is 10 and ds is 5. He loves the kiddie rides, she is getting too old for the kiddie rides, and doesn't really like the bigger rides. Both kids have been going to GA since 2 years old. They love it. It isn't my favorite place, but it is convenient, and I keep on say the following mantra "I will not compare, I will not compare..."

Well first of all with the amusement park, yes I agree with you it is dirty. I am not sure what you mean by your term Ghetto, but I won't go there with assumptions. But with HH, I don't. We went for the first time yesterday, and the park was spotless. No one took our stuff, and the people were fine. I came across nothing I didn't like. And if you re read my post, I said that the kiddie section beats TL kiddie section hands down. TL doesn't even come close to HH. The TL wave pool is awesome and beats HH handsdown. I honeslty can't compare the slides, because I am a chicken, and don't do them, and my 5 year old is too small for them. But again, the kids section ROCKS.

HH - kiddie wave pool for little little kids with a little ship for them to climb on and guns to shoot
kiddie wave pool for bigger kids
4 slides off of a giant climber play ground. Nets and guns and bridges and two giant buckets (it reminds me of the Curious George Section at Universal Studios, but on massive steriods).

TL - kiddie lazy river, sand area, a few guns to shoot, and a small area to run around

BB has a great kid's section! My dd's were 6 our last visit and were bored at TL, they said the kid's section was for babies. BB actually has 2 area's. Tyke's Peak is for smaller kids, Ski Patrol for bigger. My dd's loved Ski Patrol. The taller one is about 48" now, the smaller is between 44-45" and our trip was last Sept so you can subtract at least an inch from each of them. The water level's are pretty low, even my midget had no problems standing in it. There are several kiddie slides, a zip-line type ride (the water was deeper on this), a pool where you walk across "ice bergs" while holding onto a net overhead, and I'm sure I'm forgetting several things. They do have a wave pool but it's tamer then TL. They have a family raft ride, that you can take a ski lift to the top if you don't want to walk, that's better then TL's. I was able to sit at the side and watch them on the slides and things rather then standing in the water. There were several kids smaller then mine that were doing just fine in Ski Patrol. I haven't looked in some time, but the disney site had some good pics of Ski Patrol last fall. Hope this helps!

Just noticed your dd is 10. She will also enjoy Ski Patrol. My ds12 enjoyed it and wasn't the biggest kid in there. He would leave and do some of the bigger rides, then come back and play around in Ski Patrol.
