Hello!
I am looking into renting one of the umbrella areas that are cheaper than cabanas. Can't find any updated prices since 2014 when I searching online.

Wanted to get any feedback on those before booking over the phone.

I know if I get there at rope drop shade could be found for free; however, by mid week we need a break from rope drop activities!

We are going in June, so it will be hot and mid day thunderstorms are possible.

Thanks in advance!

Hi. I think the prices change dependent on the time you are going.

We booked in 2016 and I am sure it was around 50 GBP that was for late August. We have booked again for April this year and it was around 34 GBP

We paid $63.90 (including tax) for one in the first week of July 2017.

Thank you!
Yes $60+ for summer sounds about right. Saw $53 for 2014.

Did you both find it worth it? What was your opinion on renting the umbrellas? Are you crammed like sardines next to other people?

We rented the umbrella & chairs a few years ago. We were to the right of the wave pool. There was 1 cabana to the left of us then another umbrella set up to he right with more cabanas past that if I remember correctly. We didn’t feel crammed in at all. The area was roped off so no crowds traipsing past us. The other umbrella was not occupied so no one on the right of us. The cabana on the left was rented. It was sort of close, but wasn’t too bad. They did have one or 2 of their chairs outside the cabana in the sun which were close to us. But certainly not right on top of us like you are in regular lounge seating. More like a couple of feet away instead of yards away. We were close to a rest room & one of the food areas but sorry I don’t remember the name. More important it was also close to a lazy river entrance & the wave pool. We spend most of our time in those areas.

I was only with my DH so having 4 chairs for the 2 of us was great. We did have to manuever the chairs around to stay in the shade of the umbrella. We would have rented a locker anyway. So having that included certainly helped justify the cost. But really, I thought it was a great deal. We are in our 60’s & prefer to not fight crowds to find seating. I would rent the umbrella again for sure.

We paid $63.90 for our upcoming June trip, so it looks like prices have remained the same since last year.

We rented one a few years back and loved it. Definitely didn't feel crowded, felt somewhat secluded and off the beaten path. Totally worth the money.

We were given one as a magical moment one year, it was awesome. I’d buy it in the future. It was nice to know our stuff was safe and that we always had a home base to find everyone.

This is why I love DisBoards - learning things I never had to think about before. I miss the old days when there were no special areas at TL :( I knew about the cabanas, but not the umbrella/chair rentals. Now I have something to research prior to my June trip. Good way to spend a lazy Sunday morning :)

Thank you all for responding. Yes, I mostly read without replying, but this was a topic I wanted to learn more about .... and did.pooh:

We found the area nice and spacious. Not at all on top of each other and is tipped off so happy to leave some belongings at the chairs without worry.

I just called Disney and was connected to recreation dept. $63.90 for the day. Can cancel 1 day prior.

Looking forward to having a home base with shade.

We rented a cabana in this exact same space. I thought how nice the umbrella/chair set up was. Off the beaten path, very quiet and secluded and a great home base.

I love TL, but need a break out of the sun during the day. The chairs are a nice option!

I am not sure if they do this for the chairs, but for our Cabana rental. We were let in prior to park opening and went right away to the cabana rental office. We were shown where our cabana was and then got settled. Once the park opened we were off! That 1st hour is great. You can get a lot done with smaller lines.

So there is a locker in the umbrella area for you? I was thinking this wasn’t for us, since we’d still need an umbrella, but now that’s sounding more appealing.
