Typhoon Lagoon - Tips needed

I will be spending a day at Typhoon Lagoon with DS (age 15) in a couple weeks. Spending nights at AS Movies. We will drive over. Please share tips and answer these questions:
1 - Would it work to lock my wallet in glove compartment, charge everything to my Magic Band, and thus, avoid getting a locker?
2 - What items would be handy to take?
3 - Where to eat while there? And what to eat?
4 - Is there a better discount other than the online order saving $5 for off season?

1. I guess, but what would you do with your keys? Also, what will you do if the system goes down and your magic band won't work for payment?
2. Sunscreen. A towel. Some people like water shoes.
3. Check out the menus at allears.net - I really recommend the mini donuts.

Next time we go I think I'll bring a pool towel. We don't dry off until it's time to leave but they do charge $2 to rent a towel (IIRC). If it's your own car from home, I'd bring some extra towels to keep in the car so your seats don't get wet or bring a change of clothes. We've done both.
Unless you have tough skin on your soles I would wear beach shoes. There's a lot of cement and my feet are sore by the time we leave.
If you want to splurge they offer surfing lessons in the wave pool in the morning before public opening of the park. I've never done it but my friend's kids did. They liked it but they're not morning people and didn't like having to get up so early.

You've talked me into it. Just the thought of the stress of anything being stolen is just too much.

I'm back now. Yes, I used magic band to charge the locker to the room. Funny thing - When I left the park at closing, the CM gave me a $5 bill (my deposit) in exchange for the key. I was expecting a deduction from my charge to the room.

Thank you trouttigger and good to have some cash for tips. I always end up having to go to the hotel front desk in the middle of the trip!
