Had a random question: I would love to go to Typhoon Lagoon for Shark Reef during my college road trip but I'm not a great swimmer-I can swim about a lap without stopping. Also, my mom is an okay swimmer but she doesn't like deep water. Just asking for opinions on whether or not other teens use life vests-I really don't feel like panicking on vacation OR making a fool out of myself by wearing a life vest...opinions or experiences???!!! :)

i just did it last week, it was my first time snorkeling, and i had a panic attack and started freaking out. but im kinda young, so yeaa. for me it was just really scary, but lots of people in my group really enjoyed it

That's my problem too, my emotions get the better of me!! Either I'm as calm as can be or panicking. :confused3

It's a short swim. Actually just floating along works better. I would say wear the vest if it makes you more comfotable. If you haven't snorkled much it would be great to give it a try at your local pool to get the hang of it. Have a fabulous trip!:)

i have done it a few times, the second time i did it (a few years ago) i freaked out, but once i put on a life jacket i was fine. Its a really great experience. Now i play water polo so im a lot more comfortable in the water so i don't use a life jacket any more, but what ever makes you more confident is fine.

ITS SO SICK !!!!! do it for sure :) i went when it was still free tho.. i used a life jacket becacuse i wanted to float on the surface.. and ive never went snorkeling so i just used the goggles and i just held my breath

Thanks guys!! I'm definitely going to try it now. I think I'll practice maybe at a pool or the Y, I definitely feel more relaxed now about just floating and seeing what works for me. :goodvibes

I did it last year, and I swallowed a lot of water. I'm used to scuba diving more than snorkelling, so I put my head underwater too much... But that's just me. Also something people haven't mentioned is that there is a sort of underwater platform in the middle where you can catch a short breather, if you need it. There is also a scuba diving bit as well, but you have to spend $20 for it.

that sounds really fun! i am a really good swimmer so i wouldnt neeed a lifejacket but when i went snorkeling in the ocean i got sooo freaked out ( i have like the biggest fear of coral! :scared1:) so i used a life jacket and a floating tube! lol, i would say go for it! :woohoo:
