Typhoon Lagoon or DisneyQuest???

I'm going to WDW in September and I have two "plus" options on my park tickets. I've been to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon before. I've decided I definitely want to hit BB again. Originally I had planned to visit TL with the second plus, but now I'm considering checking out DisneyQuest since I've never been.

Can you guys help me decide? What do you all think of DisneyQuest?

DQ is great. THey even have a Cheesecake Factory express. :flower: Go early...it gets crowded.

DQ is an overrated videogame place, not worth it if you have to pay full price. I would much rather be at a water park. We just came back and I felt too many of the videogames were out of order. If you like videogames then you will probably like it. It gets very crowded at night (and noisy).

While DQ does NOTHING for me, my 13 yo ds and dh LOVE it. Ds spent the majority of our May trip on his own there. Give it a try.

Personally, I love DisneyQuest, and I highly recommend checking it out, since you've never been and you're already going to be doing one water park.

I hate when people say that DQ is "a video game place," because it really isn't. One section of it is primarily arcade-style video games, but I always skip that section, since I could play games like that at home. What I really enjoy are the virtual-reality experiences; they're different from anything I've done outside of WDW.

However, I will say that I think DQ wouldn't be as fun by yourself as it is with a group (or at least one other person). Most of the games there involve some kind of group interaction, so if you're alone, you get stuck with people you don't know.

Really, it comes down to the question of what you enjoy. If you don't like virtual reality games, motion simulators, and the like, then stick to the water parks for your plus options. On the other hand, if you'd like to try a unique experience in a fun building with Disney's classic attention to detail (especially if you're going to be with one or more people who would enjoy battling pirates or paddling down the river together in a virtual environment), then check out DisneyQuest. :)

I hope this helps!

We went to DQ on our first trip to DW in April 2003 using the Length of Stay Pass. We went to DQ 1/2 way thru the trip during mid-day. When left with the decision as to what to do the last day (1/2 day because of travel), both kids (then 5 & 8) said they voted for DQ (without any argueing!).

Personally, I don't need to go again. But I am not a video game person & I got motion sick on Aladdin's magic carpet (virtual reality). :earseek:

And it is not just a video game place. Kid's absolutely love it - some adults do (DH had a blast). But DO NOt go during the evening. We used it as some down time from the parks.

I'd make TL the preferred waterpark, since it has the newest attraction with the water slide "coaster" ride, Crush n' Gusher I think it's called. Then I'd probably use the other plus for DQ on a day when you otherwise might not go to a park.

I'm not a video game person at all, but I once went to Playdium in Toronto which is just a huge venue for vids and virtual reality games and I had a lot of fun there. I am going with my boyfriend who does like games. I thought it might be worth checking out but I'm still not sure....

I enjoyed Blizzard Beach more than Typhoon Lagoon because the slides were better and the ski lift to those super high slides is nifty! Having said that, I do love the theming, the scuba diving and the tidal wave pool at TL!

What's the general concensus? Do people like TL better?

Unless you are video game lover I wouldn't go there!! I would chose a water park any day over Disney quest. Disney quest is a video game lovers paradise. Yes, it has some virtual reality games and the cheese cake factory to eat at but that is about it. Everything else is wall to wall video games!! My DS(11) just absolutely loved the place and wanted to go there almost everyday. One day at the place was enough for me!! All the noise after awhile gives you a major headache!! :sad2:

i agree. it isnt just 'video games'. virtual reality is a really cool experience and i have never been to the disney water parks (yet! going in two weeks :)) but id say since youre going to one already you might as well try DQ as a unique experience :3dglasses

Usually when people have asked this in the past, it's turned out to be about 50/50. Both are popular. If you haven't been to TL since Crush 'n' Gusher, it might be worth going for that alone. I haven't done it yet but I hear it's pretty fun.

If your bf likes games, definitely give DisneyQuest a shot. At worst, you'll have some unique interactive experiences and decide not to go again on a future trip. But you could really like it, and you'll never know unless you go.

I'm not a big fan of video games myself, but I thought DQ was a lot of fun. If you haven't already done so, read up on it here at the DIS. (Go to the main site and search for the DisneyQuest page under Downtown Disney.) Allearsnet also has some good info on it.

If you do go, let us know what you think and if you'd recommend it to others! :)

We have PAPs and spend a lot more time at the water parks. DQ is nice but it can get really crowded with long waits for almost everything. I think you get more bang for your buck at a water park. We went to TL 2 times this past weekend and did not go to DQ at all. The new water coaster at TL is great.
