Hi everyone,

I would like to hear recommendations for which slides/attractions would be appropriate for our son, at Typhoon Lagoon.

He'll be 8, and probably 4 1/2 feet tall, when we get there this summer.

He's not much of a daredevil, for example he still won't go on Splash Mountain because the drop looks too intense. So no straight-down slides!

I just got a little concerned when I noticed my Tour Guide Mike has two TL touring plans - one for little kids and one for kids 10 and up. That made it sound to me like Miles might be in an age group where he'll be too big for the kiddie things and too little for the "real" slides. Do you think that's true?

Typhoon Lagoon is more mild, compaired to Blizzard Beach. he should be fine on pretty much everything. My 8 year old sister went on just about everything exept the shark tank and was ok. So your son should be ok. (She is no daredevel either) :thumbsup2

you might want to consider BB instead of TL. The kiddie area at TL is really for younger kids, the one at BB is much nicer. BB has 2 areas: Tike Peak for preschoolers, and Ski Patrol for agea 4/5 and up. They have alot of things including a zipline, slides, and "icebergs" that the kids use to walk across the pool. I think the Disney webiste and Dis have some pictures. BB also has a family raft ride, calmer wave pool, and lazy river, along with the more adult rides. My dd's are almost 8 and have always preferred BB over TL since they hate getting knocked down in TL's wave pool. They also refused to swim with the sharks. BB is set up so you can sit poolside in Ski Patrol and see your kids pretty much though out the whole area.

We did both water parks this past May. I have an 8 year old boy and a 6 year old girl. Both kids road everything at TL that they were tall enough for :) My 6 year old wasn't tall enough for Crush N Gusher, but the 8 y.o. loved it! I thought it wall was pretty mild :)

My DS who just turned 8 loved the wave pool at TL. He didn't want to leave. He isn't a great swimmer, but figured out that if he went to chest level and dove under the wave, it would push him back, but not knock him down. He had so much fun. If you son likes wave pools, this one is a must. Which ever one you go to I am sure he will have a blast!

My daughter loved Typhoon Lagoon at 6 and at 8. She enjoyed the snorkel thing since they had the floatation vests. Be careful in the surf pool - those waves are pretty strong. The slides aren't that intense at TL.

The wave pool at TL can be pretty intense. MY dd7 has been going there for years and after getting knocked down a couple of times by the waves she prefers to play at the waters edge while I take her 12yo brother out deeper.

BB has the area for the younger kids to play on such as walking acroos the "ice floes".

Both water parks have the tube ride (Castaway Creek at TL) that kids of all ages seem to love - including *this* kid! :cool1:

DD has also been on the new Crush n Gusher and does NOT like it - way too intense for her.

We like both water parks and try to get to them as often as possible.

Jill
