Hi all,
My family and I are coming down to WDW next month. My son is
about 20 months old. My question is, is he too young to go to
Typhoon Lagoon? Since he's too young for the big slides, how are the
kid slides? Are they also to big for him?
And what about the wave pool? Is it too strong for him and would
just knock him down even at the edges?
It looks fun but I hate to pay for a family and for him not there be enough
there for him to make it worth the price to get in.
Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I really liked TL when my son was a toddler because there is a lot for little ones to enjoy and there is a fair bit of shade.

Ketchakiddie Creek is great for tots, with scaled down slides, climby things, squirty things, etc. And there is a restriction on who can use it so there are no 'bigger kids' who might knock a little guy over.

The wave pool is likely to be too strong for a 2 year old but there is a warm run-off area right at the front of the wave pool that's perfect for splashing. If you kneel next to him at the very front of the wave pool he'll get a little splash, but depending on how sturdy he is, it might be enough to tip him over (or scare him with the splash!).

I would highly recommend a day at TL, even with a tot. It was our salvation when my boy was little. He was happy just splashing and playing in the sand in a shady spot. :)

I'll second that Ketchakiddie Creek is great for toddlers. Lots of little activities for them to splash around in.

The lazy river also has rafts that they can sit on top of - ie, no donut hole type rafts.

Our two year old enjoyed herself at TL until the sunscreen got in her eyes :(

Too bad Typhoon Lagoon isn't open in January. When are you going? TL closes down for annual maintenance during that time.

Blizzard Beach has a children's area, too. I'm not sure if it's as good as the one at TL, but it should be adequate.

BTW, your little one gets in free. Under 3 is free.

I think both TL and BB are great for that age. It doesn't take much to make them happy. We have a video of DS at 22 months at BB on the little slides. Even though there were about 4 to choose from (plus a lot of water spray stuff, small tube slides, sand areas), he found one he liked and just went on it over and over and over and over...! On the video, you hear my husband saying (as he films him going down the slide again), "Repeat 200 times for a fun afternoon!"

Went to TL when my older two were 18 months and 2 1/2 and it definitely occupied a whole day (until nap time!). They loved the big sand play area and the water was enough to cool them down. Like a beach but cleaner and with slides to break up the day a bit.

If it's hot, I'd definitely say go for it!
