Is the family raft at Typhoon Lagoon tame enough for a 2.5 yr old and a non-swimmer? Does it go fast and do you end up in a pool of water?

TIA

I'm a non swimmer and did fine on it..there are cast members at unloading that can help you. I am not sure about your 2 yo question though. It lands in a pool with mini waves, like a jacuzzi...and you jump out. It's been a while since I was on it though so maybe someone else can answer your question better.

As long as the 2.5 yr old has life jacket on they should be fine riding with the family

I would think they'll be fine... it's very tame. The worst bit is trying to get in at the top but you could just lift the child in no problem.

The water is not deep at the bottom at all.

Try not to put too many people in the raft - the slide itself has very shallow water and if the raft is too heavy it gets stuck.

Oh and when you get off you can either exit the ride, or if there is no line take a sharp left and pick up another raft to ride again. Saves you going all the way down the steps to the bottom and then back up again through the entrance.

Have you seen the one at BB? If so imagine that, but half the speed, length, and then imagine not really going anywhere :rotfl2:

It really is tame, like otherp eople have said, put a life jacket on the 2 y/o and you won't have any problems :)

Apparently I'm in the minority on this one. 5 years ago, we took our then 3 1/2 year old on it (with a life vest on) and was SHOCKED. He did fine, BUT - he was splashed in his face for most of the ride and did not like that. He rode it with his hands covering his head and I rode it hanging on to him. The ride is much scarier when you're not holding on :o) and afraid for your child. He came off of it just fine and wasn't crying or anything, it just was "nothing" to us.

However, saying all of that. We took my other son when he was 3 1/2 and he loved it. But, we knew what to expect.

I say - expect that it might be a little "rough", have a life vest on him, and have fun!!!!

Actually now you come to mention it nuzmom the water does splash over the sides quite a bit... which I suppose is head height for a small child.

my Dd 2 LOVED it, she did have a life vest on, and she isnt bothered about splashes in the face. I think cos we were laughing and enjoying it, she just followed suit. You can see it as you Q, so you can make up your mind then. Have fun!

It is definitely much shorter then the family ride at BB, but I think it is much rougher. Being a non-swimmer is no problem, the pool at the end is very shallow (less then knee high) and I'm guessing the 2.5 yr old will have a life jacket on. However, you will get soaked. And the water doesn't gently spritz, it pours and directly splashes you from above and the sides. We were just on it last week, so the memory is fresh! We had lots of fun and rode more then once, but we were all (my youngest is 5) surprised by how hard the water hit you.

BTW, I hate having to carry that huge raft up the steps. I always feel like I'm going to drop it and take out half the line behind me!
