Typhoon Lagoon dilemma

Hi. My 5 year old daughter and I are going to Disney World in November. Here is my dilemma: My daughter is taking swimming lessons right now,which she loves. I want to snorkel at shark reef when we go down, but not sure if she can snorkel with me. Do they have children's life vests for shark reef? Or should I just put her in children's program like Neverland Club, and take bus to Typhoon Lagoon and get there a little before they close? Any help is welcome.

I have seen children snorkeling there, so they must have child sized equipment, but unless your daughter is a really confident swimmer, you may not want her to snorkel with you.
You have to float across the pool and just use your arms, no kicking allowed. As I recall there is only one spot in the middle for you to stop and rest and look at the sharks. If she is a beginner swimmer, this may not be a good activity for her.

you can get a child's life jacket free (driver license deposit required) at the central rental place. They have child snorkels and masks available at shark reef. If she can swim the length of a swimming pool she could swim the "reef" which is just about the length of a pool. There are many life guards thru the water. You are allowed to stop halfway through, but that is it. I had problems with my mask and ended up just swimming it, which was fine. When my DS was 8 he loved this attraction--did it 18 times! It is a very good idea to go towards close after a storm has cleared it out. The lines can be brutal during the day and the swim is VERY short.

Your DD would love the kiddie slides.

I found when my kids were that age they couln't get the concept of the snorkel and panicked. We just got back and my 3 kids and DH went through 3 times in about 15 minutes during the middle of the day, I was quite surprised at the lack of people.

DH held his arm out straight for my our son to hold in to so he didn't have to "steer" and could just enjoy the sights below.

Things may have changed recently, but there was an age limit when we went. It was 9 or 10 years old. I remember telling DD that we would have to wait until our next trip for her to be old enough to snorkel across Shark Reef.

Anybody know if the age limit still applies?

I read somewhere recently that under 10 must be accompanied by adult, but can't find it now.
