Type of Backpack you use in the parks?

Hi,

We always carry a backpack (LeSac brand) in the parks of misc items for the kids. The last few times we also tossed in some frozen water bottles/juice bags. The backpack always sweats a bit which is a tad annoying.

Looking to see what type of backpack other people use to carry clothes, sunscreen, cameras and even small drinks for the kids. Something not huge but maybe a type or brand that works for dry and even wet items and also keeps us parents dry.

Thanks

We haven't been there before, but I found a great sling bag (it's a backpack that you wear like a messenger bag - it's pretty neat) from ebags (it's an ebags brand, actually). It has a cell phone pocket in the strap and some neat features. We'll have two small kids with us, though, so I'm hoping it'll hold most of our items.

Just in case your only concern was the water bottle sweating and still loved the pack you were using i have found a product that works great. I found at Marshalss, Target and the solutions vatalog these bottle holders byo small bottle bag or built ny small bottle bag. It keeps the bottle from sweating on everything. They also have a snap handle so you can attach it to anything.
Good luck.

We use one of these:

Camelbak HAWG

They hold 3 liters of water in an internal pouch (fill with ice and add water to it at the resort in the morning) and it will stay cool all day and since it's in a seperate pouch, no sweating. It has good storage in it for pull-ups, extra clothes , camera, etc. and the kids have no trouble drinking from it.

I know that other companies make cheaper versions (I only have this one because it was on clearance at REI for $25)

Camelbak ladies version ( So I don't have to carry it ) holds 2 lts. of liquid gold while in the parks.

We stop at CS places and get cups of ice to keep it replentished.

I agree that you should take a messenger bag. For my family's last trip, we took a messenger bag that had a orange mesh like material on the outside. This made sure that nothing could leak.

We use an Eagle Creek parents backpack. It holds changes of clothing, a diaper pad, bottle sections, room for our cameras, and drinks or snacks. As for not sweating, they have bottle covers at Walmart for water bottles or pop bottles to insulate, and stop sweating over everything.

We use a combo backpack/soft cooler. Kohls has these on sale right now for $19.99 - the top part is a regular backpack with some outside zipper pockets and the bottom of the backpack is a cooler for sodas/waterbottes or anything that you will want to keep cool. I LOVE IT!! We throw in an ice pack and a few water bottles and they stay cool all day and they are separate from everything else in the backpack.

Do a search (on DIS) for Baggallini Messanger Slings. They appear to be very popular with Disney-goers!

Since we will have a stroller to keep our small cooler in , the sweating from drinks won't be an issue. But I do want a lightweight daypack to carry other misc items. I just saw LL Bean has a "stowaway pack" - very light, and stows into its own pocket when not in use, so its easily packed away. ONly weighs 16oz. :thumbsup2

Last trip I decided I did not want a backpack and wanted something different. I was at Walmart and found a backpack that velcros and snaps across the front sideways. It was only $12. but worked awesome. It had a mesh part for water bottles and such. I loved it and will carry it again. It worked fabulous and was cheap. I am all about the cheap part.... :p
