I just got back from the World and want to second Kathy's comments about the Taste of Africa party. It is a wonderful addition to AK and I highly recommend going. It seems like Disney is trying to advertise it quite a bit as they announced it after the Festival of the Lion King show and in many places throughout the parks. I was even given a mini map of the party when I checked into Animal Kingdom Lodge for the week. I also noticed a Disney camera crew taping parts of the festivities. I'm not sure where this footage is going to be used, but am eager to find out.

I wish I spent more time at this party, but the little that I did proved it to be a lot of fun. The music was INCREDIBLE. There was a DJ on the roof and live bands/singers throughout. There's a ton of African dancing and participation is encouraged. As I just ate at Boma, I didn't try the food offerings, but they did appear to be quite good and similar to those you'd find at the AKL restaurants.

I don't have many pics of the party (I took some video), but here are a few goofy pics from my time there on Monday. I think the first two give you an idea of the dancing and live entertainment offered. All in all, it was great fun and a wonderful atmosphere with lots of energy and fun to be had! :thumbsup2

Mickey & Minnie During the Party

Looks like you were having fun. I hope this is continued past the current end date, because my next trip isn't until December.

Thanks for the pics and heads up:thumbsup2 It looks like fun. Hopefully they'll continue this for awhile. I'm sure it's keeping ppl in the park after the parade.

I hope they continue it too! I was listening to the Podcast with my kids and Ryan went nuts when he heard about it.

Thanks for the info. and pix. I just read Kathy's post also. The party looks really neat. Is there any talk of them extending this offering?

It seemed that they were really pushing this event. I'd be surprised if they did not extend it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys!
