Just posting my recent experience for any of you looking for a hotel in dtd. We stayed in the Best Western Downtown Disney from October 16-22 and were very pleased. This was the first time in many years that we stayed in a hotel not owned by disney so I was concerned. We paid about what you would pay for a value resort in WDW. I asked in my resorvations for the disney view and to be put as high as possible. We were on the 17th floor with a private balcony. We were able to see MK and Epcot, a few MGM and PI fireworks both from the balcony and our bed!!!!! We didn't get in the hour early but considering when we went we didn't have much of a crowd to fight. The room was HUGE much bigger than the moderate resort in wdw (although the bath was small). We only ate at the resturant one morning and it wasn't that good but most food in the orlando area isn't good to me. We mostly got Burger King, McDonalds or Taco Bell after finishing off at the parks because it was very close. The housekeeping staff was wonderful (they delievered extra pillows within 15 minutes of asking for them. I would DEFENINATELY consider doing this hotel again in a heartbeat!!! We had room service Pizza Inn one night which was good. The only complant was that their conciege service isn't a true one it's more of the timeshare place but were not too pushy. Hope this helps some of you out there. Oh also, we learned the first day to take our own vechile because it was easier to get around with since the DTD bus is hard to find.
