Two dating teens left suicide notes at their homes. They said they were going to "jump off a bridge". There are multiple bridges well within walking distance of their homes and the river is high right now because we've been getting rain every day for over a week. Their cell phones are being pinged with no results so far.

These kids are not much older than my son is now and I just feel so horribly sad for the parents. Please send good thoughts out to these kids and their families. I hope they are found/come home safe and sound.

My son just did a project for school about teen depression and suicide...

14 teens commit suicide... A DAY!!! unreal!!

I hope these children are found safe... but i fear not...

:( Breaks my heart. My teenager had a girlfriend that used to threaten suicide. I was so proud of him when he called the police after she said that and then wouldn't answer her phone. He knew she was home alone and feared for her life. She was hospitalized. She had slit her wrists. :sad1:

Mental illness is so unforgiving.

Very wise young man. He did the right thing by notifying the authorities but also by not being pulled into the turmoil. A teen isn't equipped to deal with another teen in that state of mind. Good for him!

Arg! What in the world could have been so bad that they would have done this?! I'm hoping that maybe they just ran away together and used the notes as a ruse or something.

This is so sad. Both were so depressed that they wanted to end their very short lives. Heartbreaking. :sad1:

I can't imagine your young son having to deal with this. He acted very mature!

We've had 2 suicides in the last two weeks in our school district (one at each high school). So sad.

I think that teenagers(and younger kids) just don't really 'get' the finality of suicide. So sad

THEY'RE ALIVE!

They found them this afternoon & they are at the hospital for observation. There are no details but police say the teens were never in the water.

I knew you had to be near me when I saw the thread title!

So glad they found them! I hope they get the help they need now. :goodvibes

I'm so glad to read this!! I hope they get whatever help they need. I can only imagine how their parents are feeling right now.

:cheer2:
Lets hope they can get the help they need to get thru this situation, strength and prayers to the families involved!

I thought that would happen. I'm just glad they are okay.

"CATASAUQUA, Pa. -- An all-day search for two missing teenagers has ended with them being found alive.

The chief of the Catasauqua Police Department in Lehigh County told 69 News that Warren Houtling and Mariah Lopez, both 16, have been taken to the hospital for observation.

Lopez's family said the teens spent the night sleeping behind a billboard, and they were walking to Nazareth along route 329 when they were spotted by a police officer shortly after 5pm.

Emergency crews focused much of their search earlier on Friday on the Lehigh River, acting on information that they may have jumped in the water.

Police said Houtling, of North Catasauqua, and Lopez, of Catasauqua, left notes at their homes that said they were planning to jump off the Race Street bridge.

Lopez's family said the teens never did jump from the bridge."
