Two Single Strollers or One Double?

Okay, took some searching, but thought I had come across this before:

Its a connector that attachs two umbrella strollers to make a double! Then you would have the best of both worlds.

That sounds like a great idea. I would lean toward two singles, for maneuverability -- may depend on how much storage you want also.

Our current plan is to rent the double jogger offered by A Baby's Best Friend for the week. It will cost $82, but it will be "ours", so we can bring it anywhere we want to go during the rental period, instead of having to check it out at the edge of the park at the end of the day. We'll be staying at the Beach Club Villas, and I think we'll want something to go around the resort and to/from Epcot, MGM, etc. . . I know it'll be a pain on the bus, but we also only plan to visit one park a day, so I think it'll be OK. I'll be in charge of the girls and a backpack of stuff, and DH will manage the stroller getting on and off the bus -- as long as both girls are rested and happy, I think we'll be fine!

I have not had to do it yet. But I plan on going to Walt Disney in like a year. I have a ds that will be 8, and a dd that will be 3 and another dd that will be 1 when we go. I have battled this subject back and forth. I think I am going to use my double. I have a Graco Dual Glider front and back stroller. I chose the double because my dh will probably take off alot of times doing the bigger attractions with ds while I take the girls on the younger rides. And there is a day where dh and ds will do Universal while me and the girls go shopping. I cant possibly push 2 singles by myself. I would prefer my stroller over the umbrella strollers because it has a large basket, cup holders and it can recline if they decide to take a nap. It is very large and very heavy but hopefully my dh can take care of that part :)

I'm glad to have found this thread! We have been wondering what to do for our family too. We'll have a 3.5 y.o. and a 6 month old at the time of the trip. We are trying to decide between the following options:

1 single stroller and a baby carrier
2 single strollers
1 double stroller

We're leaning toward the double stroller choice, but it's hard to decide. I appreciate the responses from the veteran Disney-goers out there!

We have been with two around this age. We took two umbrella strollers. We found easier to manage the crowds. But maclaren sells small double umbrella strollers that might be easier to fold up on the trams and buses. That way one person can handle the kids and one can get the stroller and bags.

We just got back from WDW on Monday.

My two youngest are 1 & 3. I preferred the double. It gave us a chance for one of us to run to the restroom, get a fastpass, grab a soda...without having to take one of the singles, or leave the other person stranded, unable to move two strollers.

HOWEVER!!!! There were two occasions when I decided to bring the single umbrella strollers...those were the days where the little ones were a little agitated...or when I couldn't handle them "touching" each other anymore lol.

We also always had the backpack carrier for the one year old with us.

I've been using the double strollers from disney since my older two road in them, and I've never had a problem maneuvering with them.

Good luck!

HI. I will be taking my 2.5 yr old twins for the first time in May, and we have already decided on two singles. The reason is because our Graco DuoGlider is so heavy! We have been using it since the twins were born, and it is absolutely necessary when it is just me out with the girls, but any time another person is with me, I switch to the two singles and it is so much easier. The big double can really wear my arms out and is harder to manuver. Also, now that the girls are older, the one in the back always pulls her sisters hair and kicks the back of her seat.

The only thing I do regret is that we are losing the giant basket underneath the double, and the handy cupholder, but at least my arms won't ache!

In my experience, the Disney double strollers are very easy to push and work out very well. However, they do not have a lot of storage space. I usually bring this cheap plastic stroller organizer that I got at Walmart. It has a bunch of little pockets and I just fill it up with diapers, water, wipes, etc. and hang it on the back of the rental stroller. (I use this instead of bringing a diaper bag.) I can't tell you how many parents have stopped me to ask where I got the organizer and if they can buy one at the parks. When we head to the bus, I just unhook it and wear it over my arm.

HI, this is my first post on the DIS boards. My 2 youngest are 4 and 2, last year at Disney we brought 2 small strollers (rather than our giant double) and the only time it was a problem was on the busses, especially when they were sleeping and the busses were crowded. We're going again in Jan. and I bought a "sit and stand" . My 2 year old can sit in the front and recline to nap and my 4 year old (who refuses to nap) can either sit or stand in the back. This stroller is much lighter and smaller than a regular double stroller. Hope this can help someone out.

Hi, we went to Disney in April. we owned both kinds of double strollers. side by side, and one infront of the other. my kids were 4.5 & 1.5. we took the one infront of the other to Disney. it worked out really well, my mom-in-law got the stroller at a yard sale, so it wasn't in the best shape. it was big, and bulky... but it worked GREAT in the parks! we didn't worry much about the buses. if it was too full to fit our stroller we just let the people behind us go. the side by side my kids pick on eachother WAY to much, it is like a double umbrella stroller, i don't think it's roomy enough for them. now i am in a pickle for next year when we go. hubby threw away the one we used this year (it was pretty much garbage when we got home)... and my now 5 yr old is almost 50 pounds. i can't do the unberella stroller, because of the weight. i am thinking maybe i will do the jogger (hoping for more comfort, and can hold the weight) Even though they would be side by side in the jogger, i am thinking it will be roomier? Hoping it is roomier than the jeep side by side i have now. if i let my 5yr old walk then the 2yr old will want to. and really the 5yr old needs to be contained more ( he is a runner!( he has Down Syndrome)) and my dd needs naps! I know this is not a thread that i started, but if someone has advice for me i would greatly appreciate it! jen
