Someone posted a while back that the Magic and the 3 day Wonder pass each other on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Does anyone know what time that happens?

When we were on the Magic in January they passed each other at about midnight. We saw the Wonder from our verandah on the starboard side.

Have to remember this. It would be really cool to see.

When we were on the Wonder in 2000, we passed the Magic and you could definitely tell what it was. Plus, I videotaped it and zoomed in. It came on out very clear. I thought I had heard here that they dont pass anymore due to changing courses, but I(or that info) may be wrong.

I don't think they would pass every week now because of the route of the Western itinerary, but they ought to come pretty close together sometime during Saturday night the week that the Magic sails on the Eastern itinerary.

Thanks everyone for replying. Patti, I wish I would have thought about it when we were on the Magic. We are going on our $99 cruise in October and I thought it would be fun to see. That makes sense that they would no longer pass each other due to the Western itinerary. I'll have to find out which itinerary the Magic will be sailing on the 12th. Thanks again.

We're going on the Eastern in 2 weeks and I'd love to see that! Does the Cruise Director announce it over the PA System so we'll know when to look for it?

Thanks!

Chip

Oh, well. We will be on the Western itinerary so I guess we won't be able to see the ships pass.

October 12th is the Western itinerary.

By extrapolating some facts and assumptions, my rough guess is that the outbound Eastern Itinerary Magic and the inbound 3-day Wonder would pass somewhere around 10pm (margin of error 1 hour). Since it would be dark at that hour, I'm sure they give each other wide berth. So unless you were on Deck just looking out into the night... you probably wouldn't notice it.

You can see her! No problem whatsoever! You just cannot miss those Big Red smokestakes! No Chip...they don't announce it. Just start looking around 11:45 pm and you should be able to see either of the ship..Starboard side....... You have a good 20 mins to view them.

One more thing to add to my list of things I "must do" on our cruise!!
What a great sight that will be!

You guys are great, I love all this info I keep getting.....

Where would the ships pass that it would not happen if the MAGIC were going on the Western Itinerary?

The Magic sails right by Castaway Cay on Saturday night as it heads out to St Maarten. The Wonder is sailing back from Castaway Cay on Saturday night. That's why they would pass in the night. But on the western itinerary, the Magic would be hugging the Florida coastline as it heads around the peninsula to Key West.

so one could see the wonder from any of the starboard porthole windows or verandahs? Guess Im staying up late our first night

This is something I would LOVE to see! But according to all the maps I have the Magic Eastern Cruise heads East of the Bahamas. Do they change the routes every so often, maybe?

Imgoingtodisney, Im not sure how it is now, but when we saw them pass, it was the 2 port(left) sides that passed each other.

According to the maps I've seen (including one of the auctioned maps that somebody sent me photographs of), the Magic heads south and passes west of Grand Bahama. Then it heads east, passing to the south of Castaway Cay (née Gorda Cay) and then passes just to the south of Great Abaco. It does sail to the east of the Bahamas once it passes Great Abaco.

:) THANKS :) DAVE :) and everyone else for all the info!! :)
