Two Separate Reservation?s

This will be my first time making reservations with my own DVC points.

We already have a confirmed reservation for 5 nights at Kidani Village savannah view one bedroom for the first week in June.

Since we're short on points and would like to stay an extra day, I was thinking of trying to reserve a studio (most likely a standard) our first night.

Do these need to be separate reservations since the room sizes and locations are different?

Yes, those will be separate reservations. We did a split stay during our last trip at BLT - four nights in the lake view room and the last couple nights in the theme park view room. We had to check out and check in when switching rooms. We had Bell services held our luggage till the new room was ready.

The other option is to check to see if you can buy the points you are short for the 1 bedroom from MS. They are $15/ppt and you can buy up to 24 to complete your reservation, as long as you are booking 7 months or less (which you are).

This way, you would not have to move rooms!

With a split stay how does the dining plan work? Do you lose the meals from the first part of the stay?

If your tickets are tied to your room key which key are they on?

Dining plan expires at midnight at the day of check out. If you are doing a split stay then it will expire at midnight the day you move/switch rooms that involve checking in again. You can continue to use your tickets but will have to use the old key card with them on it.
