I am starting to plan a trip for eight friends and I to the world next July. I have been to WDW once a year since '07. We are looking at boardwalk. I have figured out we will need two rooms but is it possible to get five in one room and four in another? We will all be 18 at the time. If you know what is the "extra" cost to get five adults in one room. Thanks for any help you can give

Yes, you can get 5 in one room and 4 in another. It is $25/night per adult over 2 in each room. So you will be paying $50 extra per night for the room with 4 and $75 per night extra for the room with 5.

You would almost be better off renting DVC points and staying at a 2bdrm Boardwalk villa: 301 pts for 7 nights, at $13 a point is $3913 (includes tax) total or roughly $560 a night.

The ONLY problem... is that the 2bdrm villas sleep 8... not 9.

If the idea of a villa intrigues you, perhaps consider the AKL villas... which do sleep 9. That total would be (for a standard view) $3731 or $533 a night (about $415pp).

*Be sure to read all aspects of how DVC rental works, it's quite different than standard reservations!*

If your heart is indeed set on the Boardwalk... expect the extra $125 in fees for two rooms

You would be able to get a two bedroom at the BW if one is under 3. Renting points for the villas would be the way to go since you would have so much more room than a regular room. You would also have the full kitchen to have quick breakfasts and have snacks and drinks available. You would also have a w/d to do laundry so you don't have to pack as much. We put a load of laundry in when we leave for the parks and then throw it in the dryer when we get back. Its so nice to come home with clean clothes and not have suitcases full of laundry to do.

Your biggest problem is getting a member to rent to nine 18-yr old kids. I went on a trip last summer with nine 17 and 18 yr old kids and it was tenuous at times.

If you book a family suite or cabin, you don't have to pay the extra adult fee. But cabins don't connect to other cabins and they sleep six. Same with the family suites.

David's Vacation Rentals specifies 18 and above as adult, but recommends requesting 11-7 months ahead of time for the 2 bedroom villas that sleep 9, AKV, BLT & OKW. Payment is due in full when your request is confirmed and is final, no refunds. That could work out, but many 18 year olds might find it hard to commit to those terms. And who knows, a good discount might come out for regular hotel rooms for next summer :) With 9 adults, you might want to look at the largest rooms, Poly & CR, or possibly 3 rooms at CSR. Have fun planning, sounds like a great trip!

Another fun option would be the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs.. those can sleep nine, are a 3 bedroom but at the price of a 2 bedroom. depending on time of year you can get those at a decent rate.

Not any more. Starting in 2013, the THV will require more points than a two bedroom villa.

cheapest option if you can't rent points would be 2 POR standard rooms. Each rooms sleeps 5. It will be super tight but most 18yr olds won't care :) Have a fun trip!

You're best bet, both for financial and space considerations, would probably be three rooms at a value, with 3 people a piece.
The rooms at POR sleep 5, but one of the beds is for a child.
Other than that, 2 rooms at a Deluxe (not Wilderness Lodge) would work.

Just realized you said Boardwalk. They do have standard rooms that sleep 5, so you'd be fine.

:thumbsup2 This. Probably more economical and you get 3 bathrooms! If one of you or a few of you may want to turn in early, you have the other two rooms to hang around without disturbing the ones who are sleeping. I would go with POP Century!

not talking points.. Im talking cash price... but I just checked our price grids and did notice they did go up slightly about $91 difference for a THV than a 2BD but $91 for one more bedroom and the ability to sleep 9 +infant is worth it!

How about 2 of the Family Suites at AoA, each sleeps 6 AND HAS 2 bathrooms in each and you don't pay any extra for extra adults? I know they aren't the Boardwalk (which is wonderful BTW), but not having to pay that extra fee would mean more spending money.

I was alos going to suggest 2 of the FW cabins, but they aren't that close together, and frankly I don't know how an adult would be able to sleep in those bunkbeds, not even an 18 year old, that would not be fun.

I would check three rooms at the Swan/Dolphin. You would be in the same area as BWI/BC/YC for less then a moderate price. Walking to Epcot and HS is priceless. Your time is worth quite a bit and we don't like to waste it sitting on a bus.

Paying for parking and other services I do not use is a big turn off to me, maybe not a problem for them.

The rate at AOA for a mid week July stay is 348 weekday 398 weekend for a total of $2853 for each suite for a week. The same week at the Dolphin with no discount (you can always get a discount there at the very least AAA) is $1847 for the week including taxes and the fees you mention (but not parking) , for a savings of $1000 per room/suite or $3000 for 3 rooms. If you have to add parking of two cars that would reduce the overall savings to about $2800.

JMO, but at 18 I would not have wanted to stay at any of the more family oriented Disney resorts. I do think the Boardwalk area is a wonderful place for young adults and the Swan/Dolphin will have far more of an adult feel.

OP, I would look into any of the Boardwalk area resorts. We have stayed at all and while BWI is our favorite they are all wonderful and you may find the water complex at BC/YC to your liking. Swan/Dolphin will be your least expensive option in that area.

Have you considered the Swan and Dolphin? I would compare the rates for them, and see if you'd rather do 3 or even 4 rooms there! They are typically much less expensive than the Boardwalk, and very nice rooms and pool area.

I don't know what your budget is, though. But am guessing it has to be on property since you won't have a rental car.

Is this for high school graduation?
