Two Ressie's - POR and CBR - HELP!

Ok all..... first post here and hoping to get lots of good information!

We had a last minute opportunity to head down to WDW (DH has a conference in May). We'll (that's DD - 5, DS - 18 months, DH & me) be there from 5/18 through the night of 5/22. I was so excited to book a room I booked it (with a preferred location status) online through Disney at CBR - completely forgetting that I have AAA.

Called yesterday to see if they have any AAA rooms left - was told no, but they got me a great AAA discounted ($200 cheaper than the total cost of CBR) rate at POR. So I'm currently holding two ressies.

Here's the question: We originally picked CBR because we've stayed there before and asked for preferred location because of the kiddos. We've never stayed at POR, and I don't know if the CRO requested a preferred room on that ressie or not (do they even HAVE preferred rooms?). My biggest concern is having a playground for the kids and being close enough to the food court area.

Either way I have to cancel one of the 2 ressies and was hoping to get some expert opinions on staying at either location!

Well I think you have a couple options.
1. Keep CBR resort if you really like and call back daily to see if any AAA rates open up.
2. Switch to POR, and save 200. That would go a long way towards a character meal or 2 or some nice souvies.

The only room choices are water-view or garden view. There are no preferred rooms you pay extra for at POR.

They have AB vs the Mansions but that is a room request vs an actual reservation.

There is a cute playground area by the main pool but we didn't get a chance to use it much.

POR is very nice. If you keep that reservation, request to be close to the main pool and the food court. We were in building 27 and it was just a matter of taking a short walk to the left to go to the pool/playground area and a quick walk on the right to the food court/main building.

Just let me know if you cancel CBR. My brother and sis-in-law and nephew are going the same time as you, wanted CBR and are told it's booked up. They have reserved POFQ, but really wanted CBR.

I would go with CBR. You could pay for a preferred location so you would be close to the main pool and food court. There are several nice playgrounds around the lake. There are the beaches that the kids could play in. Just keeping checking rates and you may get a better price at CBR too.

We loved POR, just got back from there and it's all newly renovated. I guess it depends on what your tastes are. POR is calm and Tom Sawyer-ish, which we love. It's paths are cool and shady. In the Mansions section I believe there are some "preferred view" rooms, views of the water on Sassagoula River. We spend so little time in a room and we also stay in AB sections because there are 5 of us, that the view of our room was never a consideration. We enjoyed being able to use the pools at POR and POFQ and there are quite a few pools at POR. There are several quiet pools and a really nice main pool. There is also a catch and release fishing dock area near the pool at POR. We love Boatwrights restaurant (especially for breakfast) and Bob Jackson in the River Roost Lounge (a wonderful piano man, fun for the whole family). The boat ride to and from DTD is a very pleasant way to travel as well.

I've stayed at both and would definately choose POR over CBR , especially with the 200 savings. I also wouldn't pay extra for a preferred location - which could still be a bit of a walk with little ones.

POR is awesome and the boat to DTD is an extra bonus. POR has a nice playground for the kids plus you have the option of using the amenities at POFQ too.
