Two ressies / One family / 20 minutes seperation

Here is the dilemma: My family (two adults and two children) booked our WDW reservations at the 180 day window and got everything we wanted. Now the grandparents (2 adults) are jumping on board and I was able to add them to 2 out of 4 of our ressies. The other two I managed to get reservations for the two of them at our restaurant just about 20 minutes ahead of us. My thought was to show up at their reservation time and ask if we could combine the two reservations (or tables) to keep the family together. Does anyone have any experience with this? Suggestions are appreciated also.

FYI, the two restaurant that we would be doing the combining thing at are Chef Mickey's for dinner and 1900 PF for breakfast.

I would keep that reservation for now and keep chicking for another reservation for the same time. I find that it's easier to all get seated at the same time around the same place when you have the same reservation time. Otherwise, try going for the earlier time and ask about being seated together. Chance are they will make you wait closer to the later reservation to seat you all together

also keep checking I'm sure you will be able to find reservation for all of you in the same reservation.

The reason you couldn't add them together was because there were no available tables for 6. If they seat you together, that would mean the person that did secure a reservation for 6 would have to wait longer and then another person etc. I would either keep trying for one reservation or keep it as 2. When we sat at two tables it was better because my mom took some great pictures of us. There are some advantages to that.

The morning of, I checked at the podium with a cast member and asked if adding on two more to the reservation could be done. They told me it was not a problem and to show up that night. We got in no problem with 2 more people. I don't remember if we had to wait longer past the original ADR time, but it's my understanding they will put you at the next available table for your party size when it opens up. This was our experience only and I can't guarantee it will happen to others. I guess it wouldn't hurt to see about getting a new ADR time since you already know, but we weren't able to plan ahead since they decided the night before they were coming up.

The morning of, I checked at the podium with a cast member and asked if adding on two more to the reservation could be done. They told me it was not and to show up that night. We got in no problem with 2 more people. I don't remember if we had to wait longer past the original ADR time, but it's my understanding they will put you at the next available table for your party size when it opens up. Just goes to show you how different experiences can be. Crystal Palace was the one I was talking about that we were not seated together. It was okay, as I said, since my mom had the opportunity to take pictures from us at a distance. I wonder if there was a reservation available during your ADR time for the party size you needed though???

The only thing I can come up with is we were an odd numbered group to start with and if I remember correctly, the tables for odd numbers generally go to the next up even number. So 5 would be a table for 6. Here nor there, I bet a lot depends on who the cast member is working the podium and seating the groups.

Yes, correct. We were a party of 4 so we would have had to move up to a table of 6. Yes, I'm sure it also depends on time of year and how busy they are. If they are not busy I am sure they would be happy to accommodate everyone they can.
