Two reservations- one hotel

we have reservations for the free dining package from 12/10-12/16. When we originally booked 12/9 wasn't available for the package. Now that we are checking flights 12/9 is the best price. I can book a second reservation for POP were our current reservation is, same room for one night.

My questions is, we have a six day park hopper attached to our current FD reservation. If I up it to seven, can we use our magic bands for access to the parks on 12/9 even though it's not linked to that reservation for check in on 12/10? Or are we going to have a problem since we technically don't check in on that reservation until the 10th?

I did this and used the same magicbands for the entire trip. You can decline one set of magicbands and since the ones you get will be linked to your my Disney experience account, you should be able to start using them as soon as you arrive.

From what I've read on other threads. Yes, you can get the extra day ticket and then use it a day or two early before the stay it's attached to, but you may have to stop at guest services. Try asking with a different heading, like using ticket a day before our stay, or something. I

We did exactly this last year with free dining. Got 2 sets of magic bands in different colors. Both ressies were linked to our MDE account. (1 night room only + FD package) Went to Guest Services on arrival day and paid to add a park day and activate our park tickets right then which was so worth it..only downside is we couldn't do fast passes in advance for that day...but could see what was available then; although just being in MK was worth it. Good luck!!

eta if you didn't know: adding a 7th park day is only approx $20 per person....so worth it!!

You can increase your park ticket to 7 before you go and then you can make FP for your one night stay. You will be able to make the reservation for the one night and then the next day, make them for the rest of your stay. If you have the reservations linked, you may be able to stay in the same room if they are the same type of room (we have done this a few times and had a 50/50 success with that). You will have to stop by guest services to activate the ticket the day before, but it's not difficult (just have everyone together when you get to the window).

Depending on how many people are in your party, you could save enough in airfare to pay for the room. Either way, you get an extra day!
