Two questions on banking and holding points

Hi,
Two questions I should know the answer to but don't. Can you bank points more than once? I have until end of May to bank my Oct 2008 points. I would like to bank some for a definate ressie, but am waiting to hear from my sister to see if she wants some for 2 nights this summer. She will know this week. If I bank the first group now, can I still bank the 2nd group as long as it's before May 31, or can you only bank once?
Second question, If you cancel a ressie after the 31 day window and those points go into holding status can you still bank them?

You can bank the second group as long as your banking deadline has not passed. If you wanted to, you could bank 1 point a day for as long as it took to bank them all as long as you call before the banking deadline. Of course MS might think you were nuts!

Nope. Holding points cannot be banked or transferred. They expire at the end of the use year if you cannot use them before then.

YOU can bank points as many times as you want. POINTS can only be banked once. So if you have 150 points, you can call and bank 1 point every day for 150 days (EDIT - frightening to think I wasn't the only one to think of it this way). But once each point is banked into the next use-year, it has to be used in that use-year; it cannot be banked again.

Points in holding cannot be banked. They have to be used by the end of the current use-year.

If your sister won't know until after 5/31, bank the points. You can always borrow the amount she needs if she decides to go.

Of course, if she cancels on you after you borrow to make the reservation, the borrowed points will expire on 9/30/2009. I suppose you could rent them if you couldn't use them before then yourself.

But even if you book with current use year points, you would be past your banking deadline if she cancels on you. So those points would expire on 9/30/2009, too. But if she cancels more than 31 days before arrival, you could at least transfer current use year points (easier than renting a reservation) if you couldn't use them yourself before they expire. So it would probably be better if she can find out before you have to bank.
