Two questions about Extra Magic Hour

I haven't been to WDW in four years. When I went, they had the extra magic hour in the morning at some parks, but not at night. I'm a little confused about two things though:

1. Can you only do the Extra Magic Hour if you have a Magic Your Way ticket? That's what it sounded like from what I read, but I was planning on getting an annual pass, so would that work too?

2. What exactly is the difference between the Extra Magic Hour and E-ride nights? It seems like they both happen after park hours for a few hours, but why is extra magic hour free and the e-ride nights about $13?

I already tried the Extra Magic Hour at MK four years ago and it was great. My sister and I got there early and were the 3rd and 4th people on Buzz Lightyear, and after that had about a 5 minute wait on Space Mountain. The only problem, was that after that day, I couldn't get anyone up early enough to want to do it again. :teeth: No one else can get up that early besides me, so that's why I want to try to do the Extra Magic Hour at night this time. So who has done the Extra Magic Hour at the parks? How is it? How are the crowds?

1) Any ticket admission will do. The only qualification is that you are staying at a Disney resort.

2) e-ride nights no longer exist - they were replaced with the evening EMH's. While e-ride nights were only at the MK, evening EMH's take place at all 4 parks on a somewhat regular schedule.

The evening EMH program went through a test run last May, and was officially started on a regular basis this past January. So it is newer.

Throughout the week each park will have 1 morning and 1 evening EMH. You must be an onsite guest to take part in the rides/attractions during EMH.

You do not have to have the MYW tickets to enter, however, you will need to use a ticket to enter, just like for a character meal in the parks. It can be an AP an old PH.

Evening EMH is free essentially where as E-nights were not. Also they are offered at all the parks as opposed to just the MK.

The evening EMH has been reported as being more crowded than morning EMH. I think many families are like yours and they don't want to start their day getting ready before the sun rises on vacation. So, it's not suprising that the evening EMH is such a hit and more crowded.
