Two Options for Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party (Standing vs Sitting)???

Question: When you went was the dessert portion for the garden viewing only in the section just above the terrace seating or did it also include the large seating area by the QS counters. I ask because a few weeks ago we were there and all three sections were set up. I went and asked the CMs at the podium if the upper area was set up for a private party and they said no, it was the regular party and they still had room if we wanted to book. That was a way larger number of tables than I had every seen set up so wondering if the garden party is so popular they are now using all the tables.

It was only in the section above the terrace seating. That was back before they made it something you could book in advance. At the time we went, the garden viewing area was only able to be booked as a walk up same day. I bet since they started making it something you could book in advance, they opened more spaces for it.

@Eighty8Keys since you just went could you clarify ......... the Terrace Level (original location) folks no longer stand at the railing but now stay at their seats with all tables pushed closer to the best viewing than they used to be...???

Yes, all the tables were pushed forward to the front of the viewing area with a large open area between the back row of tables and the food tables. The front row of tables was directly against the railing so there wasn't any room for anyone to stand in front of the tables. Before we arrived, I was concerned that they would take the opportunity to cram more tables in but there seemed to be less tables than before.

There were two of us in our party and the two chairs were placed on one side of the table facing the castle.

We did the Terrace party in September. It was nice but I wouldn't do it again. People did stay at their tables for the most part. I thought I had picked a good table, but the trees were completely in the way. We moved to a place on the railing where we wouldn't obstruct anyone else's view. While facing the castle, we moved as far to the left, closer to the castle, as we could while still remaining in the party area. The snack area was directly behind us. The view is very much off center and I didn't really like it. The good things: there was no crowd, it was much cooler, you could sit, there were snacks, drinks (that were not cold and no ice which was very strange) and easy access to restrooms. It was easy to race to Space mountain after the show.

If the garden view is centered, then I would consider that. Not having to deal with a crowd is a big benefit. My daughter and I are short and we seem to spend the entire show jockeying for a view on Main Street. The kids on shoulders pose the biggest problem.

Also, I am regularly sick of dessert items at WDW. I just don't want them all that often. I would really enjoy it more if they offered more in the way of non-sweet items...but it is a DESSERT party, so it definitely met expectations. (but really, I would kill for some celery and carrots by the end of my trip! It wouldn't need to be anything fancy)

Can anyone tell me if you can see "Once Upon a Time" castle show from the Tommorland Terrace? I want to do the desert party at the Terrace so we can sit but don't want to sacrifice the castle show. TIA!!

You can see it, but your view is off-centered. It's not optimal. We ended up standing to see the show anyway. Our table was just too far to the right, so we moved as far to the left as possible and stood near the buffet, where we wouldn't block the view of those seated. The trees were an issue as well, but maybe they are an issue on Main Street as well. I don't plan to do the Terrace Dessert party again. We are trying the Plaza next time.

I am right there with you. Almost booked the dessert party for the ease of viewing the fireworks, but didn't book it because I really don't want dessert. I'd love some veggies and appetizers.

The Jingle Bell Jingle BAM party at DHS for that holiday show last December had a party advertised as a "dessert" party I think - but had tons of hot and cold appetizers - and alcoholic drinks. You could really make dinner out of it as well as getting the desserts. I wish they'd do that for this party (at least with appetizers) because I've always been tempted to go and love dessert but the other one seemed like a better value food/drink wise.

Except the one titled "Tomorrowland Terrace" says it is standing... and the "Garden Plaza" says it is seated. LOL

We did this with the Plaza Garden viewing at the end of March and we were instructed to be seated on the "grass" for the show. The only people standing were the ones at the very back of the viewing area. I actually liked this better, although not really comfortable, because everyone could see without taller people blocking your view. I overheard parents with young children also saying it was much better--kids weren't blocked from viewing and weren't stepped all over by other viewers.

I did the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party a few weeks ago. My table was nearly all the way to right of the Terrace, view is below. OUAT wasn't until after Wishes my night so we didn't see it from here, but the view would have been "ok," not great. Trees block the far lower portion of the castle. Not sure what the audio would have been like from here.

Anyone who has been there recently - is the Plaza Garden viewing still open enough that you can sit on the ground if you want to?

Also, (I'm sure you have been asked this a hundred times!!) how far in advance do reservation open. We want to book Oct 30, but it looks like currently they haven't loaded them in yet...even though it's our 180 day today...

We saw the show last December from the Terrace Party, and wondering if now, because of the new shows, strategies for best viewing has maybe changed???

Thanks in advance!

Absolutely. We were there last night and many, if not most, people were sitting on the ground. The secret is out about standing in the back and resting on the fence, though. We also saw a few rope jumpers being removed after a party goer pointed them out to a CM.
