Friday night we got to the AKL late so we ate at BOMA. I've always liked BOMA, but have eaten there a lot lately and wasn't thrilled, but thanks to my kids insistance we went and I'm glad we did! The soups were fantastic! Every single one! The salads were fresh and the fruity dressings (apple & mango were two) were lovely. The flank steak was juicy & tender and kind of spicy...The prime rib, oh the prime rib... This was probably the best two cuts of PR that I've had in 15 years!!! At a so-called buffett! I had two end cuts and the flavor and tenderness was out of this world. the only negative report was the pistachio covered tuna...
Saturday night my youngest daughter and I ate at Jiko. My daughter had carrots, celery & apple with peanut butter as an appitizer and chicken and mashed potatos for main course...She said they were very good! I went specifically for the monk fish. It was served over vegitables with parsnip strips on top. The veggies were great, the parsnip strings were extraordinary and the monk fish WAS one of the best fish entrees I've ever had! (take note folks, I live in the Keys). The fish is like a mild, white fish steak...Very thick. I disagree with the comparison to lobster in texture and taste, but then it's very hard to compare to anything else.
In conclusion, it's UNFAIR to label BOMA a buffet. It is much better than that, particularily to anyone willing to be a little adventurous. JIKO...Just go!!! The service is very good and friendly. The ambiance superb and the food outstanding. It certainly has to be one of WDW's best!!!
