Two direct purchase questions

I’m planning to do a 100 point direct purchase later this year. Is there any benefit of having it deeded into two 50 point contracts? I was thinking it might be better for resale, but then I would not have the 100 points for the blue card which is the reason I am buying direct.

I want the blue card for the AP discount. We are currently AP who live out of state. Who is eligible for the AP discount? My 20 year old son still lives at home and his girl friend travels to Disney with us but does not live with us. would either or both of them be eli for the AP discount?

Thanks for your help.

Your direct point purchases do NOT have to all be in the same contract to qualify. You can verify with the sales guide before you actually purchase, but others have reported qualifying as long as the total of their directly purchased points is equal to or greater than 100. Some do not even purchase the minimum amount at the same time.

As long as your son has a photo ID that shows your address, he would qualify to purchase a DVC annual pass. His girlfriend would not. (She would have to live with you, have the photo ID showing your address and be married to your son as only immediate family members qualify for the AP benefit).

100 direct divided into two 50 pt contracts will qualify you for a blue card, as long as they are the same membership (so same UY and titled exactly same).

As for AP discount it is anyone on the deed and the family residing in the household (I think up to 6 people). So your son would qualify but not the girlfriend.

you might ask if the closing costs are the same? And yes, 2 (50) are easier to sell and command a higher price.

I believe I read there was an additional charge for recording fees and such. I believe it was only about $250 but I will verify when I buy.

I would def split into two 50 point contracts. It's still 100 points, so you are still Blue Card.

Another place this might be helpful you might not have thought through is the long term on your exit strategy. This makes it easier to offload just one and still keeping a few points. Also estate planning. It's much easier to give people their own contracts than to force people to share a contract.

I bought a 200 point resale contract that was actually two 100s and the closing cost difference was maybe a couple hundred bucks.
