Two Days.....It is Panic Time!

Ok... it is 3:45 in the AM...... and I cannot sleep.....

I am leaving Thursday AM with just my 10 yr old for our four night adventure to WDW. Although I am pretty independent, I realize that this is my first vacation without my DH - who always takes care of tickets, flight info, etc!!

I am so excited... yet so worried that I will either forget something or lose something! It is so funny... I never realized it, and taken it for granted.... but when we vacationed, I always handed my licence, and my credit card to him. When we got to the turnstyle, he gave me my ticket..... and I gave it right back when I entered the park!

I am trying to make this the trip I always wanted to have. DH is "Done" with Disney....he just doesn't get it. My DS is like me, he loves the experience more than "the rides". He and I will have fun with Pin Trading, Dining, and doing special activities like the Wishes Cruise.
We have plans for the mornings, EMH, Fast Passes etc.... but the afternoons and nights we are just going to go with the flow.

I need to sleep .... but my mind is racing!!

BTW>>> What is the difference between Scattered Thunderstorms and Isolated Thunderstorms??

You'll be fine, just make a list of the stuff you know you have to have so you can check it off before you walk out the door. My brain is always going 200 miles an hour the night before we leave so if I don't right it down I will forget something. Have fun.

Go and have a blast! I'm a single mom and my dd who was 7 at the time and I went last summer and loved it. We are going again this summer. It was a very special time for both of us. We also did parks in the early mornings and went back in the late afternoons and it worked fine. We had a lot of pool time and of course, shopping time. We flew last year but are driving this year so we can have the freedom a car offers and I don't mind driving (it is a 22 hour drive).
So just relax and enjoy your son and your trip! What a lucky kids we have to have moms who love taking them to Disney World!

JUst take a deep breathe and enjoy yourself. You've been plenty of times before, and once you get there, experience kicks in.

As for the showers....scattered means they will be passing through the area with some off and on showers. Isolated means that certain areas might see rain, others will never see a drop. Just throw on your ponchos and continue the fun.

I am panic sticken as well. I am not going "adult" solo, however: DH is not a planner. Vacation is pretty much my appointed task which I don't mind--I very much enjoy the planning. It does put a little pressure on me (UHG!) if anything gets screwed up though!

BTW...we are first timers. Any suggestions are welcome. Like a "mistakes we made on our first WDW trip" thread.

I am right there with ya (except my DH is going with me and 2 DDs...)

I am feeling panicked and a bit overwhelmed BUT I know that everything will be fine once we hit the road. There ARE plenty of stores in FL and along the way, so if I forget something, there is no need to freak out!!!!!!!

Just try not to rush too much, because that's when you're likely to forget something. The scariest thing that happened to me on our Spring Break trip, was when we were at MCO, waiting for our flight back home, and I thought that I had left my purse hanging inside the bathroom stall (I had gone in to use the Disabled Access stall, and the hook wasn't right on the door, it was off to the right.) I had brought along a much smaller purse for the vacation, since I didn't need my usual larger purse. I panicked and told my dh; he's rushing around trying to get help,(by the way, no one cared!) It turned out, that I had put that small purse inside of my carry-on bag to get through security with only one item to deal with. Moral of the story: Slow down, pay attention to where your key documents are, and try to focus on not losing things! Many people who are completely clueless manage to travel, and you've got experience, so you'll be fine. Just give yourself plenty of time to get where you're going, and carry your stuff in whatever kind of purse that you can keep easy track of! As you saw in my case, switching from my usual purse to a smaller one knocked me completely for a loop!

You will have a great time! My DS (12yo) and I have done Disney together and the one on one time is great. (My DH is also done with Disney) DS and I are going back in July, can't wait!!

I travel without my husband when I am on business and I always have that I am going to lose something feeling! I know exactly how you feel.
My solution is:
Anything of value goes around my neck or in a fanny pack that I can wear - credit cards, money, tickets, etc....and everything else goes in a bag(s) that I can lose and it won't be the end of the world. Of course when I get to hotel I change the plan to fit where I am going and what I have to take with me but this seems to work for me. I keep telling myself - I am wearing it, no one can steal and I can't lose it- I have everything that matters on my person.....this may sound obsessive but I have to beat my own psyche sometimes. If I lose the bag with the rain coats I can buy another one....
I agree with the other posters that you will relax once you get there - have a great time!

My Mom and I are going this year solo also in october. We are so excited. My dad always travels with us but he cant this year because of his job. I think we will still have a fantastic time. Mom is the organized one anyway.
