So, I've gotten it into my head that I want my family to eat at CRT once during our upcoming trip. I just want them to see what the inside of the castle looks like before they think they're too cool for such things.

Thing is ... we have two little boys. DH is a bit leary of the idea of taking them there; after all, it's princess central and they are totally cliche, well, boys. :)

Personally, I think they'll like it. DS2, who is 4, in particular is a huge flirt ... and loves watching "The Little Mermaid." DS1, who is 8, has special needs ... and I think will the characters who can actually speak with him might find a connection.

What do you think? Any success stories from taking little bruisers to a princess party?

It wasn't a princess party, but I took DS (then 5-1/2) to 1900 Park Fare on our last trip. His favorite part of the meal was meeting Belle (blue dress, apparently substituting for Alice). She called him "Little Prince" and talked to him for a minute before leaving with a blown kiss to him. He turned around to me and said, "I think I'm in loooovvve." I about burst out laughing — it was so darling and so over-the-top! Still a favorite memory for me... (We'll see soon if he's still "in loooovvve." I've booked Akershus and 1900 Park Fare this trip...)

The princesses are feminine in personality this is true, but they go on the most epic adventures I never understood how they're too 'girly' for little boys. I think they'll have a lot of fun being in the castle and seeing the face characters. Especially if they know them from the movies. :thumbsup2 I wouldn't worry about them not liking it! Plus I think they get king crowns to wear :cool2:

In April, my DS 14 got a sword (and plenty of attention from the princesses) and my DD16 and myself got wands. We all got wishing stars too. None of then glowed though.

Thanks! (Sorry, kddisney502, I did a quick search but somehow missed that.)

We're trying to watch our way through all the movies ... including the so-called "princess" ones .... before we go. I think that will give them an appreciation for the characters, whether they're princesses or not!

I took my 7 year old boy/girl twins last month and they both loved it. My DS adores the princesses though. He opted for a wand like his sister at the breakfast. I have a really cute pic of them meeting Cinderella at Town Square where they both have the star of their wands around their eye.

It will be fine. I've never been into princesses and we have three boys. I LOVED the castle when dinner was a non-princess meal in the 90s.

Our youngest went through a princess phase when he turned four years old - he wanted to have dinner with Belle and eat in the castle. So we booked Akershus for dinner and CRT for breakfast the next day. Akershus was great for him - he was really interested in the princess stories and he asked them questions - they were all really engaged and very sweet. And when I say engaged, I mean they danced with him, talked with him, really interacted in a memorable way. (And we have a really cute photo of him with Belle!)

The CRT princesses were rushed on the morning we visited. They had difficulty understanding our son (he has a speech disorder) and were not as responsive to his questions. They moved on more quickly than the Akershus group from the night before.

But if you would like to eat in the castle, this is the way to do it! So I'd say go ahead - everyone should try it at least once!

I don't think they get crowns. But they do get swords that glow. The girls get glowing wands.

I have ate there 4 times, with one of them being less than 2 weeks ago and have never seen glowing wands and swords. Not saying that you did not get them, because you never know.

We have always received a plastic wand and sword and a wishing star. One year (2nd time we dined there) the want was a dollar tree wand, seriously! After that they were back to the original ones.

If you want to eat there, go for it! I'm sure your and your family will have a great time :goodvibes

I would take them. The Princesses are great with kids and I think little boys would enjoy meeting them too. I saw quite a few boys at lunch.

Didn't mean to start a debate. I must have been mistaken, sorry :) I'll update my original post.
