Two bedrooms, but three baths... am I missing any options?

Hi all! I'm a lifelong lover of WDW, but having been tasked with being the trip planner for my whole family for a trip this fall, I'm looking for options that will be a good fit for our family of 6 adults and three kids (all under 12) that won't break our bank. It seems like the 2-bedroom villas, while a squeeze, would still potentially be a good fit. But for the sanity of all involved, the 2BR with the 3rd full bath seems vital. As best I can tell, those only exist at Bay Lake and Kidani Village, but is there some option I'm missing?

(Thanks for tolerating a newbie question...)

Those are your only options for 2 bedrooms with 3 full bathrooms.

Are you looking to rent points? or using points of your own? or booking cash through Disney? I only ask because fall can fill up fast for DVC rooms.

We're planning to rent points. I'm on the waiting list with the two largest rental brokers for BLT; at least one of them was pretty blunt about the length of that list. The other didn't get into the details, but I can't imagine it's limited to one company.

If you're paying BLT or AKL rates, you might be better off finding a 2BR and a studio at OKW or SSR. They're beautiful resorts and your group of nine will probably value the extra space (and real beds) more than any thing.

I was going to say that people in the group might want some privacy. That's a lot of togetherness. Adults using the bedrooms can go in and close the door if they need a break from the rest of the group; people sleeping in the living room won't have that option. People sleeping in the living room also could have both the early birds and the night owls walking through their space when they're trying to sleep.

It's definitely something we've thought about! The week we're looking at (if online availability trackers are to be trusted) is a little tight all over, so trying to juggle two reservations gives me a bit of pause.

First, thank you for not posting the dates as we don’t allow that.

Second The online trackers are a snap shot in time and with DVC, things change a lot so what is there now could be gone in 5 minutes.

Fall is a busy DVC time and BLT is a near park resort which is really popular. While trying to get two might be tough, you can request it’s all or nothing so each party has their own rooms.

Good luck!

I actually read the rules before I started posting! I may not be able to understand the arcane DVC rules, but the least I can do is know the board rules! 😂

I was lamenting how challenging this was to my folks, who pointed out that the only option used to be calling a long distance phone number and hoping the person who answered would be helpful.

Thanks to all for the advice!

BLT is a great location! We have points their and alwlays enjoy the view no matter where the room is.

Two rooms at poly might work and would be a lot cheaper. Heck, three rooms at poly might cost the same. It’s newly renovated and each room has an extra sink/shower area. You can ask for connecting, it usually works. They each have a queen, a queen Murphy and smaller twin-ish Murphy, so each room sleeps 5. I’ve slept on all three and thought they were great.

Poly is a big resort with a lot of rooms, so this usually isn’t too tough to book. Two rooms gives some additional privacy and poly has laundry like a dorm.

So, there will be a couple that will be sleeping in the living room with kids?

Honetly, that is way too many people for me in one room. I would do studios, THVs, but I think they have two bathrooms, studio with a two bedroom or regular hotel rooms. I would not want to be the couple in the living room with the kids and paying the same as those in the MB Or even second bedroom.

For the money you are willing to pay for BLT, I would rather spend at OKW or SSR for more and bigger accommodations.

Please let us know what you end up booking.

Good luck.

Just wanted to add my thanks to @Sandisw's. Judging from the number of declined threads on the R/T Board, very, very, very (did I say very?) few people do. You're one in a million! :)

A 2 bedroom standard view at AKV is cheaper than 2 studios at PVB standard view by a little. 3 studios at PVB is a lot more than a 2 bedroom lake view at BLT. The amount vary by time of year.

Point being that 2-3 rooms at Poly is on the same wavelength pointwise and might be better with privacy for a group this size.

I was thinking the same! When we travel with guests (family, friends) we have a couple of very simple rules:
a) Every household unit gets their own bathroom.
b) NOBODY sleeps in the living room. This is our common gathering space.

3 standard view rooms at PVB appear to be more than a 3 bedroom Grand Villa at OKW. OKW GV has 4 full bathrooms, a large laundry room and a master suite with a king size bed. I would take a OKW GV over any 3 studios in WDW. I do understand that there are some people who are on different schedules and a separate suite for them makes life better for all.

Precisely because of this value, that room is walked at 11 months, unlikely to be open for the fall. Poly has a lot of studios, so it isn't so hard to book, even without priority. And it could be booked by multiple owners with less points.

To get the OKW GV, you'd have to find someone with OKW points, and a lot of them, and book 11 months out.

The room is a great value, probably the best bargain per point in the DVC lineup. I have an OKW contract. I bought it for this room for larger family and or friends trips. I would bank and borrow to get 6 nights. In December a few years ago I was able to log on and get a GV at 11 months for a November trip. I could have grabbed a HH GV also. There are only 2 of those. I did not have enough points for my whole stay ( borrowed, no banking) so I booked the first 4, then at 7 months I grabbed the last 2. To my surprise, those last 2 days at 7 months were available for the HH GV too. I guess I was lucky. I did have a back up plan if we couldn’t get the GV at 7 months. With all the excess points in the system now things are probably different. More demand.

Another option - head out to DL - VGC has the extra bathroom in 1 and 2 bedrooms.
