Alright all you knowledgable DCL folks give it to me-

My fiancee and I are planning DCL #2 for May 2004. All we've done so far is the Wonder (that was our first) - so Eastern or Western what do you recommend and why?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Hi fredms.

My fiancee and I are planning DCL #2 for May 2004 - so Eastern or Western what do you recommend and why?

It would help to know what cruise you took the first time as well as what type of vacation you are seeking...

Personally I like the Western MUCH better. You get an extra sea day with the Eastern, but for hubby and I the ports on the Western are definitely superior. We love bumming around Key West during the day and seeing the Mallory Square acts at night (don't miss the Cat Man and his Flying House Cats). In Grand Cayman, the stingray swim is a must-do experience, and be sure to try the rum cake. In Cozumel...well, we've been there four times already and still haven't done eveything we want, We've done Xcaret, the jeep tour, the horseback riding, and Chankanaab where I swam with the sea lions. I never get tired of that port. In contract, the ports for the Eastern didn't seem all that special. We had a good time, but there wasn't much that stood out about them. Add in having to wake up at dawn for Immigration and I can take a big pass!
I should have my trip report on our latest Western on my website this weekend (I promise!).

Depends on what you like to do. Key West is geared more towards adults. St. John is wonderful. St. Martin has French side.

Funny you should ask. We just decided yesterday that we would do the Western again in 2004. We like the ports better than the Eastern. Swimming with the stingrays in GC and watching the sunset at Mallory Sq. are some of our favorite memories. I also remeber taking an early morning walk on the Mon. morning of the cruise and watching the sun come over Cuba. WOW.
By the way, we are mid 50s with no children. Love the Magic.
