Two additional AP options I would like to see

Here are two options I would like them to add :

Option 1 - Full refund for unused portion of AP. Example you have used 7 months of your AP you are entitled to 5 months refund.

This option is for the many people whom the current two options don't work. Whether you can't travel due to schedule, maybe you are high risk, maybe you don't want a modified experience, maybe you are having a financial hardship, maybe there are travel restrictions but for whatever reason you can't or don't want to go to the parks. I feel this option would be very well received and really help the people who are really struggling right now.

Option 2 - "See you next year" Your pass will be valid from March 16, 2021 and your expiration date will remain the same just being adjusted to 2021. Example your pass was set to expire May 17, 2020 with this option your pass will be valid from March 16, 2021 until May 17, 2021.

This option will give people the 365 days that they paid for. It will also give plenty of time to plan and make room arrangements, book flights, see the annual events they missed while going during a time of year that they are able. I could see them adding a nice room discount to get people to book for next year.

What do you guys think?

Disney is a business. They’ve stopped payments on valid contracts, offered extensions, pretty good I’d say, tho I paid ours outright.
I’m waiting to see what my AP
Option is when they make an announcement.
Is what it is at this point. We don’t plan to return 2020 at all, even if open.

The problem with option #1 is some people would be getting big refunds while still getting outsized value from their pass. Take me for instance. I activated my DVC annual pass November 9th. I went 4 days in November, 2 days in December, and 6 days in January. I believe the AP was around $750. So with this option, I was able to use my pass for 12 park days and now would be entitled to a refund of almost $500. Disney just isn't going to do that, nor should they IMO. Now, in another thread someone posted that they only got 6 days out of their AP with no intention of going again this year. I think a case could be made that Disney refund the difference between an AP and a 6 day hopper. But this would be Disney moving to a case by case basis and I think that is something they are trying to avoid if possible.

Option #2 I think while I think would be fair, I think it would be more labor intensive and take a manual process...which I'm guessing Disney is trying to avoid. Also from a business perspective, the cynic in me thinks that Disney will want as many people paying full freight in 2021 as possible. I think the goodwill/refunds they do across all their divisions will happen in 2020 tax year. Giving AP refunds now allows them to take the financial hit now while everyone is suffering. Then hopefully in 2021 people come back to the parks and their earnings improve.

I don't blame people who are angry their plans aren't happening as they hoped or who feel they aren't getting their monies worth. But I think overall the two choices given are pretty fair. Hopefully we get back to normal sooner than later and maybe Disney will be willing to offer more options.
