I have just discovered this insane phenomenon called Twitter
(www.twitter.com)
my sister made me get an account yesterday and i'm addicted.

Seriously, it's just like on facebook how you update your status, but that's ALL you do. You don't really have a profile, you just....say what you're doing.

It's so useless but I'm addicted. There are tons of celebrities on it--I personally like to know what Dr. Drew & John Mayer are up to all the time.
(I suppose that might go under the umbrella of stalking?!)

I'm in awe of the extreme ridiculousness of this concept, but I'm hooked haha.

I normally look at Swagbuck's Twitter for different things. I've gotten into looking at Stephen Fry's as well, since he's awesome

I may make a real account sometime soon, but not right now.

I've known about it for quite a while thanks to Sxephil, but I believe that Canadians can't follow another member as it's too costly for Twitter to work with Canadian carriers.

i dont use it on my phone, just online.
they give you the option to use it on your phone (dunno if it applies to canadians or not though) but im sure it costs something.

I joined up with Twitter last week and I am enjoying it, mostly because I 'follow' several news sources and so get breaking news very, very fast (sometimes with a link to story, but sometimes not if it is 'breaking'). I am following CNN, New York Times, BBC, and some local stations (news, weather and traffic).

I am also following Ryan Seacrest of American Idol, who posts frequently about what he is doing or about to do. He is legit.

I also followed Paula Abdul for a bit, until I realized it was a faker with such twits as "I love medications" and "never too early for a drinkee poo!".

A rather neat website is 'twits near me' (type that in google to get specific site). When I go to said site it shows me the twits from people in the Fort Worth - Dallas area (one turned me on to a great book sale last weekend).

No, you can set it to private if you wish. That way you'd approve the 'followers'.

I just looked at everyone's account, and most of them are showing their last name. Can you make it so it doesn't show your last name, or should I just put *blank* ?
