Twitter - Do you use it?

Do you use Twitter? I just wonder how many people here do.

I'm sure most of us hear about it all the time, and I'm sure a lot of people wonder the same things I do.

I'm on Facebook regularly, so it's nothing against social networking. But I feel like it would be a constant influx of text messages or just plain information-overload with Twitter. For those of you that use it, why do you like it? And is it text messages, emails, or what?

I am the only Yes for right now, haha..
I use it to talk to celebrities and some friends for fun.
I love a lot of canadian celebs from the show Degrassi and they use it and reply to me sometimes. It is a lot of fun to flip out when they answer me, haha.

I'm going to look into Tweeting soon. I don't do Facebook or any other networking because I think they cause a boundaryless society. I value my privacy a lot.

I signed up for it about a year ago but never used it. I wanted to sign up to get twitter-exclusive deals, but it's just too much. I'm not into celebrities, and frankly, I'm too boring to tweet. "Woke up. Fed baby. Changed diaper. Got DD breakfast." Yeah, thats entertaining!

I love twitter because I am such a star watcher. I've got everyone from Joy Behar to Kristin Chenowith to Alison Arngrim on there. Lord Voldemort is always tweeting something snarky...adds a little laughter to my day I really don't use it to tweet myself, though. I just enjoy reading everyone else's remarks.

I use it but mainly to follow others--I very rarely tweet anything myself.

I use my account once in a while. it's much more handy for people who can access the internet on their phones, so you can update regularly from wherever.

I love Twitter. I follow all sorts of news outlets and companies, plus a few celebrities and game designers, and a few "normal" people as well. And lots of different Orlando and Disney related accounts. I find I get news much faster through Twitter than through any other source. Many businesses also offer special deals (even free things) to their Twitter followers. You can have tweets sent to your phone, and I do have a few people that I read that way, but mostly I just read tweets on my Twitter feed. I like to use Twitter to share bits of news I've heard that I think my followers would find interesting; links to articles, videos or websites I enjoy; or mini reviews of movies, TV shows, games and restaurants. I also tweet information about obscure holidays - for example, today is International Chocolate Day.

I opened an account, but haven't been back. I didn't really get it, I mean, do I really care that Paris Hilton is on her way to the dentist. In the waiting room at the dentist. In the dentist chair. Getting drilled.... seemed very dumb. I'm interested in my friends, people I actually know, and I don't think you can really follow them. Plus with facebook, who needs twitter??

Yep, it's fun! I like to go on the theme park forum and look on the thread for people tweeting from Disney. it's fun to read tweets of what others do in the parks. Plus I love following certain celebs & stores/places/restaurants.

I don't use it regularly. When I go somewhere (in the US) I Tweet with pictures, so friends can keep up with me in real time. Also, fortunately, Twitter stores pictures at full resolution, so it is a convenient way to upload pictures from my phone. I have found that every other place I send my pictures down sized them.

I very rarely tweet, but use it to get updates on all whom I follow, which are mainly political, quilting & crafting pages.

I use it mostly to follow people....nascar journalists, local and breaking news, Anderson Cooper. I do tweet occasionally when the feeling strikes though.

I was all happy when he got a twitter, haha..but I don't tweet him much.
I have gotten a tweet from Aislinn, Jordan, Stephen Stohn [the president of epitome pictures/exec produc of degrassi] and the Degrassi character tweeters of Eli and Adam.

I voted other because I have a twitter account but I only use it to follow my employer, so I know what others are talking about.

I did open an account but quickly lost interest. Being in the business I was very aware of how PR people really answer for the "celebrities" and I see it as a total marketing tool.

AND I don't care what most people are doing during the day, just announce the important stuff. I also hate it when people use facebook for tweeting.

I have a Twitter. I occasionally post the odd random thought or something funny I heard during the day. I don't post the mundane stuff.

I also follow a bunch of celebs like Wil Wheaton, Nathan Fillion, Leonard Nimoy and others.

I used it about 3 times before I got annoyed and went back to facebook... facebook is more entertaining to me...

We are required to use it at work. To put out news alerts.
Also the Police and Fire departments put out tweets on major incidents on Twitter. Giant pain. Used to be they would just e-mail the alerts, I'd get notice on my computer. Now I have to go to all their Twitter pages through the day to check on any developments.
I'm old enough to remember when we just had a speaker in the newsroom and the police and fire departments would just put out an announcement over the speaker......."3 alarm fire, corner of First and A Streets".
Sorry, the old technology worked far better.
