IHOp never were intending to actually rebrand as IHOb. It was just a marketing way to introduce the expanded burger options on the menu.Remember how successful the International House of Burgers re-branding went?
The change created a lot of outrage but seems to have been successful, at least in the short term.
“In the first three weeks after the announcement, IHOP said it sold four times more burgers and that burger sales have “remained stable” in the weeks following.” It wasn't only the sales that increased; IHOP stock increased 31% in the first three weeks following the announcement.
