We are heading to AofA with our 10 yo boy,8 yo girl and twins that are 2. We were planning on bringing 2 single umbrella strollers so my husband and I could each push 1 toddler. On a different board someone mentioned that a double stroller is the way to go. I feel like it would get too heavy! But we have never traveled with our toddlers before and really have no idea what to expect. Anyone have experience with this? I should mention that we will have a rental car and will be driving to each of the parks instead of taking the buses from AofA to the parks.

Even if you don't have twins, I'm sure there are people out there that have traveled with young ones close in age. So, any info is appreciated! Thank you!

We have twins, now five so our stroller days are over. We used a combi when they were younger. It is light, umbrella like but more substantial. Very convenient. You can flip it open with one hand. Once they got bigger we would rent a city mini. Also easy, if a bit heavier. I'd go double. We would never use an umbrella stroller because we are both tall and they always hurt our backs.

We haven't gone yet with twins. We are going in June with a 9 year old boy and 2.75 year old twins. We are bringing a lightweight double because there are a few rides in each park that my older son will want to ride that the twins cannot. This will leave one parent with both of the twins, one double stroller will be easier for that. (We haven't used the leashes/harnesses/backpacks, so putting the twins in a stroller would be the only way to ensure they stay in one place)

I have heard great things about city mini, but we got a used Maclaren for $50, so we are bringing that (at that price, it is cheaper than renting a stroller!).
I can tell you at the local Zoo, we used the double.

Also, I have been to Disney with one kid in a stroller, and I highly recommend the bus to MK. If you park at MK, you have to take another mode of transportation to get to the park. It is easier just to take the bus which stops directly in front of the park.

to OP something to think about esp if older kids are in line for a ride with one parent and one of twins need to be changed how is one parent going to move 2 strollers? are you planning to never split up so older kids can ride something with a height requirement as the twins will not be allowed in line even if not riding

We are going next week with our almost 3 year old twins. We bought 2 Kolcraft lightweight strollers to use, they are only 11lbs each and fold up easily without taking up too much space. We also have the stroller attachments to clip the strollers together so we can push them as a double stroller if needed. We wanted the convenience of umbrella strollers but we wanted the boys to be able to recline for a quick nap and there is storage under each stroller for diaper bags and drink holders for us. They each have a nice canopy too for blocking out the sun as we walk around.

I've now gone twice with our twins. Two years ago (15 months), and last fall at a 2 1/2. Both times we brought lightweight umbrella strollers. I'd do it no other way. Our double stroller is heavy, and if you need to head two different directions.....you can't. It's also easy to navigate, then a tandem or side by side beast stroller.

My twins are now beyond the stroller years, but when we traveled to Disney when they were younger we always used two umbrella strollers. We preferred the Chicco one because it reclined, had a canopy and a small basket. We much preferred the two umbrellas vs. one double. The umbrella strollers fold up small and are light weight. I find the double strollers to be heavy and bulky. I never had any regrets traveling with two umbrella strollers.

Thanks for all the input! I hadn't thought about parents splitting up (one with the big kids for a ride and one with the little ones). Makes sense to have a double then. But, then again, neither of our older two like roller coasters, so maybe we will be doing a lot of stuff together as a family that doesn't have height requirements and not splitting up. I need to look into that.

I agree a double is the way to go. If you decide to bring an umbrella type stroller, make sure the handles are tall enough that you are not having to hunch over at all to push it. That would make for a very painful trip to WDW.

Our older kids are 3 months apart (adopted) so they were like twins. We liked having separate strollers because we could roll their strollers up to the table in casual restaurants instead of having to store it elsewhere, we could separate easily if one kid needed a change while the other parent entertained the other kid/went on a ride, it was easier to navigate the parks' pathways and stores, we could tri-fold our strollers in seconds and easily fit them on buses or boats, etc. We used Combi Urban singles and loved them.

We now have a 4yo & 3yo in addition to our older kids (both 8yo). We do a double for them. It is less convenient getting around but DH often takes them back to the room late afternoon while I stay out late with the older kids, so a double is easier for him to manage on his own. So, it really depends on how you plan to do things. We use a Baby Jogger City Mini Double stroller now.

There is also a good chance that they might fall asleep. One parent could push them around while the other took the kids on some rides. I also remember booking it out of MK when my twins were terrified of the fireworks, while DH stayed with the other kids.

OP--Just be aware that it is up to the CMs at the time if you are allowed to take your strollers into a table service restaurant or not. Sometimes they do make you leave your stroller(s) outside.

I could not imagine taking two different strollers. That would have meant each of us having to push a stroller 100% of the time, and those being umbrellas instead of an easy to push double. We took a triple (double with a joey seat) last time and it was totally worth it. Our twins will be 4yo still when we go in Sept and we will be renting a double.

Our first year at Disney our twins were 2 and we took our Maclaren double umbrella stroller, it was a pain but much easier to fold and carry then our double BOB. Last year (twins 3) we took two single Maclaren umbrella strollers and it was sooo much easier then the double.

My twins are now 20 (yikes, when did that happen?!) They used to make these velcro "joiners" for umbrella strollers. It was basically a block of wood inside a nylon covering that velcroed around the strollers, locking them together. (They came in a set of two, you would link one at the top of the strollers, one at the bottom). This way my husband and I could each push a stroller, but if one us needed to take off for a little while, we could hook the strollers together and one of us could push both. I wish I still had them so I could remember the brand name! Maybe something like that is still available? It worked out great for us. :) Have a magical trip!

We've been with the twins at 15 months, then 2.5, and are planning our next trip at age 3. We always rent a double. At home we have a Bumbleride, but it's a bit big, and I dont like traveling with it. SO we rent a citi mini double, and its perfect. Lots of places we travel we bring two singles, but at Disney we prefer the double. One person to push both is priceless in some situations! It fits everywhere even most stores.

Thank you for all the input! For those of you who have rented, do you rent at the park or from a local company?
