Twilight / Downtown check-in baggage question

If you use either twilight check-in at Gatwick or Downtown Disney check-in, do you have to hand in ALL checked baggage at that time?

Is it possible to put any more last minute baggage in at the airport bag drop as used by those doing on-line check-in, or does everything have to go either when you check-in or as hand luggage?

Not sure Hilary. It could be that your boarding card is in someway linked to the baggage receipts/tags that are printed out and stuck to your bags, so it may not be possible to add more bags.

Although, I've seen them print additional luggage tags for strollers, so there may be able to.

It would mean getting to the airport earlier and queing again at the airport check in desks though

I wouldn't of thought you could unless you queued up again the next day with the normal checking in people 3 hours before the flight. When we did the twlight check-in in January we were told not to leave the airport for an hour or so while they checked through our bags and made sure nothing was wrong with them, presumably they have to scan then before they are put on the plane.

It may be worth giving Virgin a ring to find out what their policy is.

One of the things that has put me off twilight/downtown (even if we'd been able to get there) was the luggage drop - I couldn't see us getting all our overnight/last day 'stuff' into hand luggage easily. But I do like the idea of having seats allocated, etc. as early as possible.

I think we'll struggle to get to twilight check-in in time anyway, but we probably could do downtwon check-in coming home.

My plan is, at the moment, to do on-line check-in, but I assume there's no chance of getting exit seats this way, as they won't be able to confirm that we appear to be able-bodied in the event of an emergency. That's why I'm toying with other options
