Twighlight check in closing time?

How strict is the twighlight check in closing time at gatwick?

Our flight from glasgow is supposed to land at 8.55 in the north terminal on a monday night. We would need to get our luggage then high tail it to the south terminal to try to check in before coming back to the north terminal as we are staying in the Sofitel.

I know the official closing time is 9pm but just wondered if it was ever a little later and even if it was how long you think it would take to get there.

From our little experience with this I think you will be hard pushed to make it. We checked in at about 8pm a couple of years ago and were under the ditinct impression that they were packing up for the night!
maybe on line check in would be better?

I have seen the que after 9.00 but that was only once.

I would on line check in and print your boarding passes, then the next morning just go to bag drop

Any idea how far in advance you can do the online check in? Is it 24 hours?

Yes, 24 hours before flight.
