Our TV is on constantly. There are no regulations in our house both my kids watch it all the time. and both are very good students. However 90% of the time the TV is on to the militarily channel, or the history channel, or discovery, or Nat Geo. My son is a history nut so he watches the military or history channel almost all the time. My DH is a news nut so the other TV is almost always on Fox or the science channels. My kids always do their homework with the TV on in the background. My DD especially can't work when it is quiet.
Ours too. My kids are older now; 18, 21 and 22 and I never restricted the TV time with them. They did their homework in the living room, same room I was in, and they did only 1 activity because I wasn't running them all over the place and really I didnt' think they needed to be involved in so much stuff that they got burned out. They all did good in school and continue to do good in college and for the youngest in her AP classes.
Maybe I was lucky, or maybe because it was always on and a big deal wasn't made about it, but they never were so into TV to the point that they didn't do homework or anything else they were told to do.
