yes, the collection of teh fee is being done by a new company, the Post Office have lost the contract basically.

Its all part of the move by the government away from Post Office counters doing the work for them and towards the closure of many of these shops

The Post office claimed to much money from the BBC to issue these and lost the contract, more information on the BBC website, BBC NEWS / ENTERTAINMENT

Yes I heard on the radio yesterday. It's a pain as I need to renew in August and the PO is so convenient for me.

Better off with direct debit they send it to you and you can pay monthly or yearly

I did my Mum's for her online - very quick and simple

Wer pay by DD and it is so easy. Thay send you a new one out once a year

Much easier as then you don't need to remember to do anything

We pay by DD too and just receive one through the post every year

I've never had a problem walking to th PO once a year. We must be in an unusual environment with a convenient PO as a lot of my work mates get their licences this way too.
It's another facility being taken away from POs I wonder what will be next?
