Tux Question For 14 Day from CA

I know it's early, but what are the men doing about tuxes for the 14 day from CA to FL? My DH rented a tux from cruiselineformal.com so that it was in our stateroom when we got there. It saved a lot of hassle doing this.

Does anyone know of a tux place that brings the tux to the ship in California?

Thanks,

Reneé

I think I'm going to buy one. I'm on the FL-CA cruise. There is a basic tux for $179 at JosABank (www.josabank.com). Course I need a shirt and all that too, but I figure it would pay off after 2 cruises, if not just the one.

I'm hoping I have a dark colored suit for the May 29 cruise. I'm not in the mood to tux it up right now (I usually do). I don't want to part with $100, much less $200, so I'm am going on my first tux-less 7 night cruise.

I bought my husbands tux on ebay, a couple of years ago for our first cruise. Planning on buying one for my son for the Eastbound cruise. I figure he could also wear this not only on the cruise but to the prom as well, so it will be paid off. I am going to bring 2 tux shirts and 2 different vests, less packing then bringing another suit on top of the tux.

Another place to check out (if they have them in your area) is S&K Menswear. Bought DH's there 2 years ago for a formal event for work (after renting the 2 previous years). The entire set up - jacket, pants, shirt, tie, cummerbund, studs & cufflinks - was about $175. Decent brand too, nothing chintzy. After that event and our cruise, even buying an additional tie, cummerbund, and braces, it is more than paid for.

DS is pretty well done growing and presuming they have the same special will buy rather than rent next year for Christmas dances, prom, etc. One year of events and it will be paid for.

Burlington Coat Factory also has a great supply of tuxes/shirts and accessories.

Also..mens wearhouse is a good source.

We bought hubby one several years ago..classic style..he just changes out shirt/vest..etc to whatever suits his mood.

It has definately paid for itself..especially now since we have discovered cruising..lol.

The reference book I have here says the typical 14 day cruise has 3 formal type nights. I wonder what we will have on the repo cruise. We can hardly wait for more info!

Just wondering...is a tux really a necessity on a 7day? When and where would you need it? Formal dining or is there a whole evening based on formal events? I have a 13 DS that will not enjoy all the fuss! Is a suit an acceptable alternative?

Thanks for any help!

yes jacket & tie is acceptable.

on the repo cruises we're currently assuming 2 formal nights and 2 semi-formal nights.

Once we realized that cruizin' had become an addiction, DH bought a tux at www.cheaptux.com . (Wish he realized this before two rentals.)

Julien, there is a formal night and most guests dress up for it. Your DS won't be out of place if he wears a suit. Quite a few gentlemen do, particularly the younger ones. :D
