Tutto Italia--yay or nay?

We are trying Tutto for the first time this year and I am quite excited to try the eggplant appy, chicken scallopini, and Tiramisu for dessert.

So far the count is 11 nays, 14 yays. I still maintain that it's worth trying and forming your own opinion.

I maintain that everyone should try any restaurant that looks good at least once. If they don't like it, they are merely out the cost of a meal. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'm on the side of trying a new place and forming my own opinion.

It's possible that someone's taste doesn't mirror your own. I don't like curry, so I know not to order the curry dishes at Sanaa. I found the sustainable fish dish outstanding. If I ordered curry, I'd have said Sanaa was horrible. My friends who love curry think it's fantastic. And since I picked the right dish for my tastes, I would also give a fantastic rating.

Tutto Italia is on my radar as a place I want to try. If I have a bad meal, so be it. I just won't return.

We went 2 weeks ago and found the portions small. I would probably try some where else before going back there. JMO

We are going to Tutto on May 13th. The veal ravioloi and tiramisu.....sounds great, will have to definitely consider both!

I am craving that Tiramisu right now. Tiramisu is my all time favorite dessert, and it is soooooo hard to find in central Indiana! I can't wait til October.

I've seen the mixed reviews as well. We really wanted our World Showcase dinner to be Le Cellier but were unable to get reserv on any night or any time of our stay so Tutta was the only other menu we liked. We are going next week so I will let you know how it is when we get back. We love all Italian food from Olive Garden to Carraba's to Macaroni Grill. They are all different but good.

OP here. I know you are dying to know what I'm thinking....hee hee...

We're still leaning toward going. Nothing I've read elsewhere makes me want to try Tony's or Mama Melrose more, and I do love me some Italian food.

And if it stinks, I will still be in Disney World with my DS and DH.

We were there in September and it was one the best meals we had. The service was good and we plan to eat there again when we go in October.

We did not like it very much. I ordered the Lasagna, which I did not like. It tasted like something from Olive Garden. It was just blah. Not sure if it was just a not so great batch, or what. Also, I thought the service was very rushed. Our servers were very nice and attentive, but it was like all of the servers in the entire place were running around like crazy, just a very hectic atmosphere imo. We may give it another try down the road, but I would definitely be ordering something different.

My DW and DS(9) were huge fans of this place and have eaten there 6 times including when they were in their soft opening stage. We have only eaten there on the dining plan so price was not an issue. Also their antipasto for two is an excellent app. Back n 2008 this place was awesome!! Since then we have witnessed a big drop off in the quality of service. Service has become very aloof and arrogant as if we as customers are stupid. Also when on the meal plan they will steer you to the least expensive dishes for them to make, it is a management directive. Our last visit was the worst as our food was bland and small portioned service was inattentive and unfriendly and in past visits we could get premium coffee drinks on the plan as our beverage but were charged this time, I questioned this and the waiter who stated that this was always the policy. We also spoke to the manager who boldfaced lied to us saying that only regular coffee was included and that it was always that way from day one. If a business wants to change it's policies that is their right but please don't lie to me. We have not been back since.

We ate there last month for the first time. Two non-picky eaters & one picky eater. We all three loved it, & wouldn't hesitate to go back if we were on the DP. The restaurant is beautiful, & the service was very good.

ETA: We've eaten at Tony's & Mama Melrose. IMO, Tutto Italia is better by far than either of those.

I'm tending to a yay, but it isn't unreserved. I had a pasta dish that was creamy with ham and peas in (can't remember the name) and it was totally gorgeous. If I'd been sitting somewhere less obvious I'd have licked the plate! But I had a pastry thing with dips for dessert and that really wasn't nice.

As for service - mostly ok, except DD wanted to sub one of the sides on her main for one of the sides from another main and my life, you'd have thought she'd asked the waiter to bring the stars down from the sky for her. He did it, eventually and begrudgingly, but the rest of the service was ok and we had next to no wait time beyond our ADR time.

Just wanted to mention that many people have said they would eat at Tutto, only if on DP. Why is that? Because it's too expensive and small portions for what you get. I think people really need to use this piece of information when making their decision.

We've eaten pretty much everywhere, and there are restaurants that we would eat at regardless of paying cash or on DP. Why? Because they are consistenly good with food and service.

Most of what I see is that people eat @ Tutto on the DP as it gives them an inflated sense of value. The prices are so high, that when you see your high bill, it's a great usage of 1 credit for most people. We were insulted the 1x time we ate here that it cost more than our dinner at California Grill. Yikes!

It's all part of the genius we all know as Disney marketing - charge $25.00 for a few ravioli on a plate, and people will think it's fabulous!
