Tutto Italia - lunch vs. dinner

I just decided on Tutto Italia while in Epcot and booked a late lunch, but am wondering if there is a big difference between the lunch and dinner menus? Are the portions much bigger at dinner, and are the meals basically the same? I was looking at the lasagna and that other dish that looks really rich with the creme sauce and proscuitto and peas with cheese baked on top (don't know the name of it but saw it on the food porn site!). I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out by eating lunch instead of dinner...Anything on the menu that is a must not miss item you can suggest? What's the best dessert? Thanks in advance for your help :) P.S. I remember reading something about a "family table" entree that comes with appetizer, entree and dessert for one price. Can you order this if you're on the DDP and does it come with everything, or do they omit the appetizer? Is your entree portion the same as if you ordered it separately?

I can't say about the portions of lunch v.s. dinner. We had dinner there in Sept. and really enjoyed it.

One dessert we didn't order but that looked really good (and plenty to share) was Bugie/Chiacchere - Signature anise and Sambuca-flavored crisp pastry with chocolate or apricot sauces $10.00

Kid's meals inc. appetizers so if you have kids going see if they'll order something you'll like. My DD9 really liked the fried cheese.

I had the grilled fish platter (bass, shrimp). DD6 had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was a nice sized portion. DH doesn't recall what he had, but he enjoyed it. We were on the deluxe plan, so we had appetizers as well. I had the calamari, and it was a huge portion, and very tasty. I had the sorbet type desert with berries, which had an egg nog flavor. By that point in our trip, we were constantly full, so everything seemed like too much. You could get bigger portions at the Pepper Market or Cosmic Rays, but the taste factor was much better here. It was also an enjoyable experience, as it was more upscale than the character buffets we had been frequenting. Don't know if I'd go there without the dining plan, though.

I had that cream dish on our last trip & it was fabulous. Probably the best meal I've ever had at Disney. I'm not a huge eater but I had it at lunch & I thought the portion was huge, I think I ate maybe half of it. I heard someone else raving about the lasagna. The service was great, it was my DS's 5th b-day and they all came over & sang to him in italian & gave him a special dessert. He LOVED it. We leave in two weeks and when I asked my kids what restaurants they wanted to go back too they both said this one (they didn't even mention Chef Mickey's).

Oooh! I'm so happy to read these positive reviews. DS (13) had mucho input on where we would eat and he picked Tutto Italia (his #2 choice), Chefs de France (his #1 choice:confused3 ) and WCC.

I had the Bucatini Gratinati in September, which I believe is the dish OP is talking about. The dish was very good and the sauce was so creamy. I could barely finish 1/3 of it before I was stuffed. The lunch portions were not that small. DH had the shrimp and fish platter, which was also really good.

The Bucatini Gratinati is only on the lunch menu. I was looking forward to trying it but DH prefers the dinner menu.

If you look at the menus, the food is very different at lunch then for dinner.

thanks for the replies :) I will keep our lunch reservation. I checked out the menus on allears instead of the dis and it was much more current and detailed. I am really looking forward to this lunch...and interesting that this scored higher marks than Chef Mickey's to a kiddo!

Hi Frannn! :wave2:

OT-how did you get tagged-I don't think it'll ever happen to me!

I saw people with the bouncing boo heads and I asked someone how she got tagged and she sent me the link to add it to my sig. Next time you see one you like, ask them to send one to you :)

My daughter old loved Tutto last year and proclaimed it was her favorite meal of the trip. She and I loved it so much we cancelled another reservation and dined there a second time (lunch) and it was just as good as dinner. We are returning in June and she has picked Tutto for our first night! We again plan on eating here twice.

I prefer dinner at Tutto Italia, but only because I love their fish with clams that is only available at dinner. However, I did eat lunch there and had some sort of pasta with crab meat and fresh tomatoes and basil on it last May. It was really good and the portion was large.

I never liked Alfredos, but Tutto Italia is a must every trip. I ate there Dec '07 shortly after they changed ownership and fell in love with the place. I ate there again last May and last Sept and will be eating there again this May, Sept, and next Dec. Can't wait!:cool1:

My DH husband and I had lunch at Tutto Italia and it was DELICIOUS!

We ate outside on the palazzo and enjoyed Belinis and Italian beer in the sunshine:beach:

I had the chicken milanase and my DH husband had the Salmon, both were delicious. We also had the bufala mozzerella salad as an appetizer and I probably could have eaten the whole plate myself:goodvibes

I'm very big on the entire dining experience as opposed to being just focused on the meal itself and Tutto Italia was one of my favorite dining experiences.....right next to Narcoosies at the Grand Floridian (and that was signature dining):thumbsup2

Hope this helps!

We had dinner there. It was good, just very basic to me. I'd eat lunch there, but not dinner. I want special for dinner, and I thought it fell a little short.

We go there for lunch because the food we like is on the menu and is less expensive. Even though we're on DDP, the tips add up.

Thanks for the tip (but I meant by the Tag Fairy). :)
