Wondering which food is better, especially in terms of Pan African offerings? Looking specifically at dinner or maybe breakfast. Or are they equal?

I'll answer because I'm also from Indy (and not necessarily an expert on the subject, although I have dined at both) ;)

Boma is similar, and in my book, is a bigger and better version of Tusker. There may be a difference between lunch and dinner at Tusker, but I can't see Tusker offering much more than Boma. The safe bet there is Boma.

Never been to Tusker House, but Boma is excellent (for dinner, I never went there for bfast). Definitely one of WDWs best.

Boma has been our favorite since they opened. Breakfast or dinner. Remember that you are comparing eating in a park to eating at AKL.
Both menus are available on this site.

I was going to mention that as well. At Tusker, you might be walking in hot and tired, and it just won't be the same even if the food is great.

If you haven't already seen AKL, then Boma becomes a very easy choice.

Boma is better in every aspect (food, service, ambiance). Tusker House, meh, it feels like a cafeteria.

I have been to Tusker House for breakfast only and went to Boma for both (breakfast and dinner). We love Tusker House breakfast b/c of the characters for my son but we love Boma breakfast b/c it does have more selection of food and you can order eggs anyway you want or omelete. We were not thrilled with Boma dinner and enjoyed Jiko much better for dinner. If we can only dine once, Our choice would be Tusker House breakfast buffet. Hope this helps.

Oh this is a tuffie......

OK, maybe not that tuff. Boma's definately. I love Tusker House and all but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Boma's. Breakfast or dinner, it simply rocks.

BOMA!!!!!

We prefer Tusker House. We LOVE walking into TH feeling tired from park touring and getting to a chance to relax with yummy food. Boma is the opposite of relaxing and feels like a cattle drive, so crowded, loud and stuffed with people during prime times that it just isn't any fun though the food is fine, way over-rated but fine (one prime example: zebra domes). You won't go wrong either way, if you want a taste of pan-African food- but I personally would not make an effort to go to Boma if you are limited to Disney transport.

Thanks all - that helps immensely. Especially the reminder that Boma is at AKL :rolleyes1
I think I get the bonehead award for the day on that one. Guess Tusker is our best option, but really great to know the food is still going to be good :thumbsup2

Boma is my favorite WDW restaurant and I have done lunch at Tusker House. I look at Tusker House as a smaller version of Boma. If I am in the AK around lunch time I would go to Tusker House because it will be cheaper and convenient but I would never do Tusker House in lieu of Boma.

I prefer Tusker House's lunch/dinner menu to Boma becuase they have a better ethnic variety & everything I tried was really yummy. I used to love Boma's dinner, but it's become way too toned down & Americanized. During our May dinner there, I found that Boma's entrees & sides really lost most of their exotic & ethnic flavors. (Although their breakfast is still great.)
