We had a 10:30 ADR at Tusker House the other morning for the character breakfast. We got there around 10:10 and I was told that there were running about 10-15 minutes behind schedule, fine. The finally sat us around 10:50. Many of the tables were already empty, so I was surprised by the wait. We were so unhappy with the character interaction! I have never seen characters rush by a table so quickly! After I had my plate fixed, the little show was going on and Mickey had a train of kids behind him. After the show, we saw Donald walk by and he didn't stop. We didn't know what the path was, so we asked the waitress. She asked who we had seen, and we told here no one. Well, within 4 minutes all 4 characters stopped by...just barely! They stopped just long enough for 1-2 pictures and to sign an autograph. I was taking pics and not 1 character even waited long enough for us to get a family shot. Our autograph book was out and Goofy was gone so fast , we had to ask him to come back. Also, the tables were so close that taking a picture is a tight squeeze. DH heard them say after they left us that they were done early!
We spoke to the manager and she apologized. The characters were gone by then, so she gave us a fast pass and a character picture. She had asked the waitress if we were late and we explained that they had the time issue, not us. She said that those who come after 10:45 are not guaranteed characters. It was so different from our Chef Mickey and other character experiences. I suggest you don't book a late ADR there!

I am so sorry that happened to you! I remember years ago being at a character breakfast at Olivia's and my little 2 year old was beyond in love with Tigger. We watched Tigger dance and dance and dance and dance and interact with the little two year old girl at the table next to us. The family was able to video tape Tigger with their daughter for about 8 minutes. Tigger never came to see us and finally we had to ask our server to get him. Tigger basically came over and patted our son on the head, patted the rest of our kids and skipped off. Whatever...We have done very few character meals since then because of the risk you take with character interaction. In my opinion, you generally not paying such prices for premium food. You are paying through the nose to spend a little time interacting with those characters that make WDW magical. We were also ripped off with character time at a Chef Mickey's dinner that was for another son's third birthday. The server just kept apologizing and finally the characters stopped by, but the birthday boy barely got a pat and a wave. How not worth it!

We have had good character interaction on other occasions, to be fair. Those disappointing times make you really hesitant to try character meals again, though.

Oh man...we loved Tusker House when we went before but we were there for about 9, and they were running on time (actually we got in about 15 minutes early).
This time we have adr's for 10am, so if they are running late we could easily be there past 10:45...and that's just crappy to say after that time you aren't guaranteed characters...it's advertised as a character meal!!!

To clarify, the manager said that if we were late, we weren't guaranteed time with characters. As I said, it wasn't our fault and I think that this particular restaurant has some kinks to work out. We chose 10:30 for a few reasons...it acts as more of a brunch and saves time from having to stop and eat. Also, at CM, it was a wonderful time and you almost got tired of having the characters stop....they kept on coming over! I guess I got spoiled. The worst part was it was our first day and first meeting with any characters. I guess I should have known when we saw Mickey waling out as we were being seated and we said hi and my 4 yo waved and Mickey gave no reaction at all. Oh well, hopefully we have better luck next time!

What a bummer:headache: We had a great experience in June when we went, the characters came by our table twice, we liked it so much we are going back in November--

We had a 9:15 resi--

We didn't have any trouble there a few weeks ago. Of coarse we had an 8 am ADR so we were one of the first ones in.

Every character came by a few times and played with our kids. We were celebrating our dd's birthday so they all had fun with her.

Sorry you had a bad experience

Thank you for this post. I moved up our 10am ADR to 9:15 this morning!
