Hi everyone . Hope u find this thread and help me decide. I have ADR at tusker house for 805 and 940 on May 6th. I can't decide which one is better. Do the 8am then safari? Or do safari at 855 the Donald's breakfast at 940. Any ideas?

Safari, then Tusker.

DAK can actually open for guests 15-30 minutes BEFORE the posted opening time,
so you could exit an "early" breakfast into a line of guests already waiting for Safari.

:welcome: to posting on the DISboards, hbabrient!

Do the 8 am breakfast and then the safari. IMO being ready to tour AK as close to park opening is essential.

Thank you. I think I'll try to be at ak @820 walk to safari and fast past 855 is that possible if it's 20 min then I'll be back to 940 breakfast . Any critiques to this plan?
So when should I leave wilderness lodge using the bus ? To make it at 820?

You are going to lose about an hour to an hour and a half of touring time if you choose to eat breakfast after the safari. As soon as you leave the safari, you will go check in for your breakfast. Then wait for the table...and so on. Assuming a 9:40 breakfast I think you could expect to not be touring AK much before 11:00.

I would get an ADR for 8:00, get a cab from WL (about $20) and reserve your Safari FP time for 9-10. Or even ride it standby right after breakfast with a later reserved Safari time for a 2nd ride.

It sounds like the park opens at 8:00 that day. If that's the case, the later breakfast would be preferable.

In my experience, an ADR at Tusker House after 9:00 is more likely to be "late" than an earlier ADR.

We will typically get the earlier ADR, then do the Safari. But, then again, I can see where that might make you feel rushed during breakfast with the characters. Gone are the days of dad leaving to get a Fastpass while I wait on the breakfast photos I ordered :faint:

So I guess the ULTIMATE question is: what are you doing AFTER the safari? If you want to do a lot of rides, you don't want to waste touring time at the breakfast table: the early ADR is for you.

If the safari is most important, followed by leisurely touring (and using FastPass+), I vote late ADR.

I went and looked at WDW park hours and so far, AK is opening at 9:00 on May 6.

I agree with the previous post in that it regards to what you are doing that day.. We have an 8:05 ADR for tusker on a day the park opens at 9, that way we can get in early(where it wont be long to get seated) eat and meet the characters and probably be done by the time the park opens, this way i can get out early and devote my time to touring the park, i like to do everything and multiple times lol :drive: so this will be beneficial and put me done with breakfast early enough to get a jump on the crowds.

But if you arent a morning person and dont want to be there for RD, take the later reservation and relax on your vacation..:coffee:

It is YOUR vacation lol ENJOY! :)

The problem is, this plan is likely not easy to accomplish anymore (at DAK, DHS, and Epcot.)

DAK will very likely open to all guests between 8:30 and 8:45AM on a day with the posted opening time of 9:00AM.

This early-opening time (most non-AM EMH days at Epcot, DHS and DAK) puts a damper on the
previous practice of having a "early" character breakfast and being finished before the gates open.

Yes that is true, but ill be in the back of a very big park already when they open, and right next to where i want to start my day, ill be done eating in 30 minutes tops, and dont have to stay for characters, it works different for everyone i guess.

Thank you for ur inputs. We all haven't been to disney world so I don't want to shock DH. And since I have a 2 and 4 yo we r taking this second day of our trip at a leisure pace. However I am plotting the itenerary for the day . Can we do child swap for Everest? Although DH has a bad neck should he skip it?

I'd say that most guests who choose a character breakfast would want to see the characters (but that's just wild speculation.) ;)

And I'm a Donald Duck fan

Be sure that you tell Donald that you're a fan.

He gets really giddy over that kind of info.
(Even more so if you tell him that you like HIM even better than Mickey.) ;)

FYI - Everest has a single rider line too.
